Edinburgh's hidden cocktail bar, tucked away just across the road from Princes Street. Not easily noticed, and not easily forgotten.

Heads & Tales is a unique underground venue located down the stairs and behind a non-suspecting wooden door. Located within you can see our two Edinburgh Gin stills Flora and Caledonia.

We are all about cool cocktails that look great and taste even better. Try our extensive range of gin cocktails, or go for one of our popular 'traitor' cocktails. Not sure what to have? Let our bartenders know what you're into and they'll be able to knock something up just for you.

Great locally-sourced food restaurant in Edinburgh’s West End area. Food was delicious and portions were good. The vegemite-type spread for the bread was a tasty alternate to butter. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful evening and would highly recommend. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, directing us to cocktails. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious.

Best cocktail bar I’ve been to. Love the fact you have to prebook so doesn’t get crowded. Great quality cocktails and the cheese & charcuterie boards were also took notch. Excellent service too.

I’ve put a 1 star for food because we didn’t eat but open table won’t let me post the review unless I rate the food! We had a great time and will be back!

We booked a table for drinks only and were placed in a lovely private alcove which was atmospheric (low lighting, comfy chairs and music). The staff were extremely friendly and very efficient. The cocktails were divine! This is a fabulous wee place tucked underground with bags of character. I shall be back again!

An absolutely fabulous place to have drinks and a few Nibbles. The bar is so cool with the under ground vibes. Our cocktails were delicious and the fish tacos were unbelievable. The best bit was the amazing service. Samuel our server was outstanding and constantly checked on us. Great place, will be back

Was a good venue nice drinks guy doing the drinks behind the bar was fab but the server spent the majority of our visit yapping to his two pals who came in and didn’t do his serving we had to constantly ask to be served although guy behind the bar was very apologetic.

Enjoyable cocktails in a cool space. It's a shame how unwelcoming our host was and that even though the booking stated having the table for 2 hours, we were told upon arrival that we had the table for an hour and a half. Then had the bill placed upon the table exactly on the minute they wanted us to leave without us asking for it. There were annoyingly sarcastic responses to questions about the menu (e.g. asking if different spirits cost different amounts as there weren't prices on the menu for certain drinks/options).

Didn't actually eat so can't comment on the food although I've been made to rate that part, just booked for drinks. Our drinks were great (fantastic aperol/tequila cocktail!), and service was really good. We were sat in the booths as you first go in, good for a group and easily sat 8 of us, but have been in before and sat elsewhere and the bar just has a generally great atmosphere - it feels like a hidden speakeasy. Definitely recommend.

Loved it! It was hands down the best bar we found in Edinburgh! The decor was fantastic, food delicious and service swift! Can’t ask for much more than that!

Loved it here so much! Staff were so knowledgeable about the drinks they were serving, food and drinks were exceptional and the whole atmosphere was so relaxing and fun I would do every time I come to Edinburgh!

First thing I noticed was the torn arm rest on one of the seats we were directed to. Drinks were fine and small plate of Taco’s were excellent. But we both felt the experience was just not as good as the previous time we visited which was a few years back. Maybe we were there just a bit early(5pm). But that seat needs replaced or repaired.

It was advertised as serving dinner until 1030 which is why we booked it. We arrived hungry but the kitchen had closed for the night.

A hidden gem in the west end. The decor is cool, staff are friendly and the drink menu is extensive - lots of options for cocktails whatever spirit is your favourite!

Visited with my best friend on a girly weekend away. It was everything we wanted; great atmosphere, lovely friendly (attentive) staff, tasty food and fab cocktails. Would highly recommend.

This place used to be great with friendly staff. Booked for drinks to take friends from out of town. Service was shocking and our server was very rude. We had one drink and moved on!

This was a cool place to grab a cocktail and the food was delicious too. It is like a cave and has a nice ambiance. I found this place because I was looking for something close to Ghillie-Dhu. Ghillie-Dhu had great reviews, however, skip that place and just go to Heads &Tails.

Great space & super ambience. However, To get a sherry glass and a highball glass for the same price... makes for great presentation but leaves you feeling short changed both on the money front & booze.

I'm sorry to hear that you were a bit disappointed with your drinks. All of our drinks are priced by the amount of alcohol in the drink rather than the volume of the drink itself. This can be why some drinks appear to be much larger than others, when they actually have the same alcohol content, some just have more non-alcoholic ingredients than others. We had a cheese board which we need to complain about as not much cheese but loads of butter and found a piece of plastic! The guy who served us sorted so very well - spoke to manager got another cheese board and gave us a complimentary drink at the end - his service was outstanding. We also had the fish taco which were lovely. Drinks and ambience very nice. Thanks

Excellent service, food & gin cocktails. Not crazy busy so our party of 5 got to stay longer than the 2 hour slot. We were off in a side room from entrance so no vibe from rest of lounge. But great for our party to visit and caught up.

Amazing service, but the food was really disappointing. The cheese board was tiny for £20, the cauliflower way too fried and stodgy, and the other items we had were just average. The cocktails however were lovely.
