Welcome to Hart House, one of the lower mainland's finest dining experiences. Built in 1910, the locally renowned Tudor style heritage house is situated on two acres of gardens on Deer Lake. This idyllic country estate, is only 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
BC Restaurant Hall of Fame Proprietor and restaurateur Paul Smolen transformed the 'family home' into a restaurant in 1989.
Since then, Hart House has opened its doors to countless dining guests, newlyweds and corporate clients; offering culinary excellence, a well stocked wine cellar and friendly professional service.
Hart House has been inducted into the Burnaby Business Hall of Fame in October of 2014.

    They were very good to accommodate me with my reservations. I didn’t know we were sitting on the second floor when I made the reservations. After a second phone call, and the fact that they opened up seating outside, we were able to sit outside. However, we were forgotten while out there. Had to ask for drink service and cutlery. Once the staff knew we were occupying a table outside, the service improved.

    Another top-scoring brunch for Hart House this year. Pleasing to see, some new and interesting food selections to choose from. The only miss for me was the fish dish. To say the least the fish was underwhelming compared with last year’s. Overall the reception and service staff were top notch and we all had a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

    Overall underwhelmed. Food options were okay, wish they had more selection. $14 for a kids spaghetti overpriced when nothing else offered for spaghetti and tomato paste. Server forgot drink, and didn’t check in during meal service. Was busy not busy for Saturday Brunch.

    The view on the patio is fabulous, service is great too. We were welcomed by Elias who was so friendly and professional then served by Allegra who took good care of us. It was an enjoyable experience that we'd like to repeat again in the near future.

    A cool rain made the fireside table very welcoming. Beautiful room, comfortable dining chairs and tables spaced well to keep the atmosphere intimate. Food was fresh and in season but too many great options made it hard to decide. Loved the risotto with peas added scallops. Lamb, halibut and seafood pasta were all perfect.

    Service and food were very good. However, if they can reduce a few tables that would make the atmosphere of the restaurant better. Further, compared to other similar restaurants, the prices are a bit higher. Anyway, I would recommend this restaurant, it is still worth a try.

    Lovely to be recognized by the host. Excellent service. The food was remarkably good, in particular, the clams and mussels and the halibut. We always have a lovely time at the Hart House and this was no exception.

    It was a beautiful day. My two daughters and I walked around Deer Lake and then had lunch at Hart House. We sat outside to enjoy the sunshine. The 3 of us chose different items -- each one was perfect! The service was exceptional as usual.

    My husband and I went for our Anniversary and the service and food was fantastic. We had a window seat that overlooked the lake and it was perfect. Our waitress Gabriella was also fantastic. We will definitely be going back.

    I’ve been wanting to visit for awhile now and finally had the opportunity to! This restaurant did not disappoint! Beautiful setting, excellent service, awesome food. A little pricey but it is to be expected for fine dining. Will definitely come back!

    I love the Hart House. It's classical and food is always good but I am hoping this last weekend was an anomaly. The food was fine but it took forever to take our order, we had to keep asking for refills in our water glass (most of the brunch my glass was empty), my entree was not quite hot enough and the room was extraordinarily noisy. There seemed to be enough staff milling about so perhaps someone was training or they were short staffed elsewhere. I'm hoping it was a one off because this truly is one of Burnaby's hidden gems for ambiance.

    We had mussels and clams to start the sauce was amazing best we ever had. I had risotto and my husband had the burger so yummy. I also had the bees knees drink and that was very good. Definitely will return. Service was great too.

    The positives: The caesar salad was great, ambiance is relaxed and homey, nice presentation/plating. The negatives: The $7 scallop was the size of a toonie and the waitress did the absolute minimum, never once checking in on us or asking how the food was. We were rushed to pay the bill.

    Great food! extras were an amazing value at at very small price. The House was beautiful. Two large female parties were loud and excited. I would not chose the Sun room next time...too small.
