Our family was born in Oaxaca and migrated to the US in 1994. Ever since then, our goal has been to showcase not only our family recipes, but also the hard work and dedication that goes into each of them. Each year, we travel to Oaxaca, and hand pick our ingredients, and carefully select the people we partner with. Guelaguetza is a restaurant, boutique market, and advocates for Oaxacan culture located in the heart of Korea-town in Los Angeles. Our motivation behind our products is simple: uncompromising quality. The products found in our store have taken years of development, and we hope that when taking your first taste of our Mole, or your first sip of our Michelada, you are transported into what Oaxaca means to us...a true Guelaguetza.

Our reservation was at 7:45 when we arrived we checked in and were told it would be a 30 min wait. Reservation just gives you a higher place in line. We were seated by 8:30. The waitress was amazing but our food took forever. We received our plates til about 9:20pm This place has changed over the years. I understand the popularity but why take reservations if they can’t be honored.

Get the Oaxacan specialties. Since it’s a Oaxaca restaurant, the Oaxaca dishes are the better options of all the food. Pozole was bland and not worth the price. $23?!! Skip it. I can make it better myself. The ambience is amazing. The drinks were yummy! It’s a great place to go for the ambience, have some drinks and maybe a few apps. We went for a birthday lunch and it was great but I’m not sure we would go back for that kind of occasion. The food is mid. Definitely not worth the pricey. We had a large party and they charged us 20% tip. I understand why and it doesn’t bother me when restaurants add the gratuity to the check for a big party. There was 12 of us. But 20%?! Usually it’s 18%. 2% may not seem like much, but it is when it’s a big bill. The servers weren’t as attentive since they knew they’d be getting a 20% tip regardless. Overall, it’s a lovely restaurant with a great ambience, good drinks, some good dishes but mostly mid, and decent service.

Delicious food and a great, fun space. Loud due to music but that does add to the fun so no complaints there. Felt like the waiter was trying to upsell a bit but that happens everywhere.

It was great I took my sister-in-law‘s for the first time and they loved it. My sister-in-law told me it brought back a memory from long ago when she traveled to Mexico and we all enjoyed listening to her story.

I recently had a less-than-stellar experience at Guelaguetza. Despite making reservations, my party was kept waiting for an additional 20 minutes upon arrival. When we were finally seated, we were placed at a table for 6 instead of the 8 I had reserved. Service was disappointingly slow, with considerable delays in taking our orders. Overall, given the hype surrounding the restaurant, my experience fell far short of expectations, and I would hesitate to recommend it based on my visit.

I used to love Guelaguetza. This was the first time I went back in a couple of years. I hope it was just an off night, but while it was still fun, it wasn't quite as great as I remember it. The music on weekends used to be one of the best parts. It's one of the only places in the west side of LA that reminded me of what it's like to be in Mexico. This time the band was fairly mediocre. They sang happy birthday the majority of the time (ie over and over again with few other songs in between) and their voices felt a bit tired, like they were just going through the motions. As for the food, we ordered a tlayuda to start and then entrees for afterwards but they brought all of our food at once. That's a cardinal sin for a restaurant for me. Half the time we were eating cold food as a result (and Mexican food cold isn't a great thing). I was served tortillas with my mole but they didn't come covered so they got cold right away. I'm actually not sure how warm they were even to start with. Service was still friendly, just rushed. The night made me worry that the restaurant is starting to coast on its reputation. Hopefully that's wrong. It's still one of the only places west of downtown to order mole and tlayudas and listen to live Mexican music (if not the only one). So I'm sure I'll keep coming back. I just hope next time it's back to how I remember it being.

Great place with a very Oaxaca menu of different moles and mezcal. Try something you haven’t had before! The live music was pretty loud in the front room, but if that bothers you, the back room/bar is much quieter. Very fun place to bring someone new to LA

There was a band in there when we went and it was so so loud. I went to catch up with a friend from back home in the UK and we couldn't catch up because we couldn't hear anything. It was really difficult to know what to order and the server's that I had were too busy to be helpful with questions, they also didn't have any answers or ability to help with the menu and I thought for the money the food was just ok. The meat we had was very dry and everyone was way too busy to bring us any sauces, dressings or dips. It was just an overall disappointing experience. The first time I went was incredible and now I don't want to go back again. It was so hectic and the food was pretty bad tbh.

The food and drinks were great. However the outside patio was covered by only one server which made for extremely slow service. The patio had more than 35 customers. After 20 minutes I went inside to ask for more waiters to take our order. Had I not, I would still be sitting there

My sister had been wanting to try this restaurant for a very long time. I decided to reserve a table for her birthday. The ambiance was nice, the food was delicious. unfortunately, due to the windy weather, every time the doors would open a big gust of wind would come in causing our food to get cold fast. My only mini-complaint, would be the customer service. I feel like the greeter and the servers should have a more uplifting attitude. Maybe ask people if this is their first time visiting? so that they know to guild them on the QR menu and maybe make some food and drink recommendations. I know my family and I would really appreciate the extra effort. maybe ask if the Table is celebrating something special? It felt like our server expected us to know what to order and unfortunately didn't appear to be happy to there. Which caused us to hesitate to ask for anything special. I know these are difficult times for everyone. Especially mentally. However, as a paying customer, and a person that works and deals with people every day. Its really appreciated to greet all customers with a happy smile and great attitude no matter the bad day your having. I truly believe in second chances and will give this restaurant another chance. Maybe when summer arrives the ambiance will lift a little more.

We went there to celebrate our anniversary and it was a lot of fun. The place is huge but inviting, warm and friendly not to mention the live entertainment! The staff and the services were all efficient and well orchestrated which is especially impressive, considering the amount of people and the size of the place.

Food was so flavorful and so different than the Mexican food we normally are used to They let us taste all four moles and one was better than the next. Couldn’t decide what we should get and the waiter explained everything and made suggestions Couldn’t go wrong with anything Fantastic!!! Can’t wait to go back

The food was absolutely amazing and unique if you ever want to explore the rich flavors of Oaxaca. Definitely not gringo Mexican and the usual crowd reflects their homage to true flavors of the region...to include their moles, tortillas and tamals.

We had a lovely meal and were impressed by how helpful, friendly, and attentive our server was. The weather was quite chilly, however, and although there were outdoor heaters, we were a bit cold and the food got cold more quickly because of the weather. Otherwise, we had no complaints. We’ll certainly come back!

Our party of eight were seated with minimal wait time. We requested to sit outside and our server was very attentive to our group. The food was delicious and quickly learned how spicy the pepper are! The ambience was nice and the heated lamps kept us extra comfortable. The drinks were made perfectly and the desert atole was perfect after a savory meal.

All the hype. Years of waiting to try this place. So disappointing. Flavors were underwhelming. Just all around meh. We ordered mole items, soup, cactus & found the meal entirely forgettable. The vibe was loud & lively which we enjoy.

It was a pleasant surprise to us that there was a live band. They played lively Mexican music which was fun for ‘chair dancing’; even a toddler was ‘chair dancing’😊

I’ve been living in LA for 11 years and Guelaguetza is a restaurant I’ve been meaning to go to. It’s become one of my favorite restaurants in LA and I’m telling everyone about it. The value and quality is unmatched and the service is outstanding. I’ll be going again over and over again!
