This property is absolutely beautiful. The grounds, the view and the maintenance and upkeep are second to none. However, the dining experience leaves a lot to be desired. The food was just okay and the server did a great job of trying to embellish each dish as it was brought to the table, but in the end you can get this quality of food from many other restaurants at a much better value. Also, unfortunately, the service was very slow likely due to not enough staff. Also, one other annoyance was a speaker that was playing music right above our table that was just too loud. This was our second visit to Goldmoor and will likely be our last. Our recommendation would be to stop in and have a glass of wine and enjoy the beautiful view, but find another restaurant for your main dining experience.

Absolutely stunning restaurant in every respect. Credible ambience with a view of the Mississippi river from a Bluff without standing decor. The food is spectacular gourmet. What a find! Service was superb.

One of the best places I’ve ever eaten at. The chef is incredible and the ambience is extraordinary. Having a high quality meal with fresh sourced ingredients by the Mississippi, not much comes close.

An exquisite dining experience. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the Mississippi River from our table. The ambience was perfect. The drive is worth it and down a nice quiet road away from the busyness of town. Service was to perfection. Attentive and professional but just in the right amount. The flavors were astounding. Their duck confit ... amazing! The beef wellington was superb. The scallops to perfection. Panna cotta was a culinary delight.

One of the most lovely dining experiences I have ever had. From stunning views of the Mississippi, to the lovely dining room, outside terrace , exquisite food and wonderfully welcoming staff at Goldmoor- it couldn’t have been better. A special shout out to our server Tim, who was both knowledgeable and fun! Will be back to stay the night at this special place.

A profoundly embarrassing and disappointing experience. I made a reservation for my wife’s birthday. She has been missing unique American fare so I decided to make the 1.5 hour trip to go to the Goldmoor. She was ecstatic once she saw the menu, as was I. We arrived and were greeted by a gentleman (perhaps the owner, which makes recalling the interaction even more infuriating), who asked us upon arrival if we were sisters. I politely said no. He then went on to say, “I could have sworn you were sisters.” After saying a second time we weren’t, he said, “are you sure?” By the time, I was over the evening already and we hadn’t even been shown our table yet. There are three profoundly important questions for the owner (?) to consider: First, is this a standardized question for every twosome that walks through the door? Put differently, I would be curious if the two couples around us were asked the same question. If not, then what is the explanation for asking two women if they are related and then more or less badgering them about it when they said no the first time? Second, this man then went around and asked every table around ours if they were ok and enjoying their time. He skipped our table every time he walked around. What is the explanation for that behavior? Third, what has happened in the past that has led someone to believe that they are exempt from making an impact on others with their behavior? This ridiculous interaction set the mood and tone of our entire $200.00 meal. Unfortunately, we do not support or recommend places that have staff who carry out microaggressions. This was an embarrassing and uncalled for interaction. My wife and I just wanted to celebrate a birthday, but instead we were met with weird questions about if we were related, then not believed when we said no. This place is interpersonally gross and I regret not walking out the second this person opened his mouth and failed to apologize. Grow up.

We strive to create a warm and inviting environment for all our guests at the Goldmoor and I would wish that for you too. In this situation it was an error. I tried calling several times after I read your review so I could apologize directly and felt badly about the impact. I was not able to reach you. Thank you for bringing the situation to light so I can be more mindful. We hope you’ll give us another chance.

We had a fantastic dinner. The beef Wellington was superb and cooked to perfection. Our hosts were wonderful and kept an eye on everything.

We loved the relaxed feel of the Goldmoor dining. Our server Tim was the most knowledgeable and friendly. He said we were in for a treat and he was telling the truth. Every dish we tried was so flavorful and delicious, the absolute best we have tried in years. This is definitely must visit place. Wonderful ambience as well!

Visiting Galena from Chicago where we eat out quite frequently and had mixed feelings here. We found the staff to be very kind and attentive. The ambiance was a bit odd, like a country club, but with bright lights and playing obscure European music a bit too loud (it’s quite possible we’re not “target” clientele but something cozy would’ve been nice). The food was beautifully plated and you could tell the ingredients were high quality. We had the lobster risotto, kale salad, short rib pasta, and cod. All the flavors were good, but the salad was overdressed and the hot dishes were way over salted. Short rib and cod were cooked beautifully. Wine list was lacking for a restaurant at this price point (1 wine for most categories which was sometimes Cupcake). Overall decent meal, perhaps especially for this area, but priced high for what it wound up being. Chef is clearly well trained!

A very beautiful restaurant. The tables are close together and diners near us talked loudly which was a little bothersome. Our food all was excellent.our waiter, Tim, was very discreet while attentive.

WOW! The Goldmoor Restaurant was fantastic! We had cocktails, wine with dinner, an amazing appetizer of lobster risotto (!), two beautifully plated and equally delicious main courses (the pot pie and short rib pasta), and two delectable desserts (apple tart and peanut butter mousse cake). It was all outstanding, and the service couldn't have been more attentive. We ate in a cozy, romantic booth while the soft, European music filled the air. We cannot wait to go back!
