Gjelina is a restaurant specializing in New American cuisine. Open every day from 8 a.m. until 11pm, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner.
For breakfast, try 9 grain pancakes with butter and maple syrup or warm banana buckwheat loaf with butter and jam of the day. Brunch options include Moroccan baked eggs and 7 grain porridge. Gjelina offers a variety of oysters, crudo, charcuterie and salad options to start at lunch and dinner. Main courses include pizzas from our wood fired oven and entrees like duck confit, house made pastas and roasted organic half chicken.
*Only ADA certified animals are allowed in Gjelina
*A 20% Mandatory Service Charge is added to your check. Our belief is that every hourly Gjelina employee contributes to your service and 100% of the MSC will be distributed amongst them.

Service was bad. We have asked for the sauce on the side not a modification, just put the sauce on the side and not on the top. They said they cannot accommodate bc they do not accept modifications! They wanted to clean the table while we were still eating. Restaurant totally overrated. And even if you are not happy with the service they add automatically 20% as tip! Probably why they do not care about the service to costumer !

I can't say we had a bad meal, but the service left a lot to be desired. The place is too dark to the point that you can barely see what you are eating and very noisy. Furthermore, eating next to a brazier with a burning cheek is not at all pleasant. But above all too expensive in proportion to the quality and quantity. It didn't satisfy me at all.

We started with oysters on half shell and snapper crudo. We shared four pizzas. Each one was fantastic. This was our third visit from Detroit and we already look forward to our next reservation.

Gjelina - in summary , mediocre food - pork belly tasteless - short ribs lacking flavor as well - cod was undercooked . Cauliflower was good. , over extended wait staff with long waits for service and time in between meals and a very snooty vibe here . There are lots of great food options in LA and Venice but unfortunately Gjelina is not one of them anymore .
