Ceci est l'histoire de Paolo et Matteo, deux amis originaires de Milan qui rêvaient d'ouvrir leur propre restaurant. La prémisse des deux hommes est de combiner les innovations stimulantes de la gastronomie italienne avec les traditions culinaires de leur région. Leur rêve devient réalité. Inspiré par la divinité romaine Janus, qui regardait autant vers le passé que vers l'avenir, Paolo et Matteo ouvrent Giano, un restaurant qui respecte les traditions et embrasse le futur. Arrive Simone Bonelli. Après avoir travaillé 4 ans dans un restaurant étoilé Michelin en Italie, Bonelli s'exporte à New York, où il lui faut six petits mois pour se voir attribuer 2 étoiles par Frank Bruni, critique culinaire pour un petit quotidien dont vous aurez peut-être déjà entendu parler, le New York Times. Aujourd'hui, à titre de chef exécutif et co-propriétaire de Giano, le chef Bonelli allie les techniques les plus sophistiquées à des saveurs magnifiques et à des présentations exceptionnelles. Si vous pensez avoir tout vu, détrompez-vous! Ce petit restaurant dans le quartier de East Village est bien spécial!

A friend recommended we go to Giano and it did not disappoint. The pasta was fantastic and Paulo was a great waiter. Definitely worth visiting.

The service was outstanding, and the pasta was absolutely delicious. I got the pesto and it was incredible. The appetizers were all great as well (bruschetta, burrata special). We sat in the back patio and it was really cute and had a nice breeze. I will definitely be back.

Loved the ambiance of this lovely spot! We were seated semi outdoors in a walkway from the main dining area to the back outdoor seating area. It was cozy and totally felt like the trattoria's we've experienced in Italy. The food was very good and the service was better!

The homemade pasta was very good! The most outstanding food we ate. The brucetta was just OK, nothing special. The calamari was very chewy and not fresh. The bread they put out on the table in bags seemed stale and very tough to chew. The waiter was very nice but kept pushing us to order each course, which came out immediately, making it appear that he wanted to flip the table quickly. Definitely not a great value for the cost.

I knew nothing about Giano's until I opened up the Open Table app to locate a restaurant close to my location. The reviews looked great.....the reviews were 100% right. The food and the serve were outstanding. I will be back.
