Ceci est l'histoire de Paolo et Matteo, deux amis originaires de Milan qui rêvaient d'ouvrir leur propre restaurant. La prémisse des deux hommes est de combiner les innovations stimulantes de la gastronomie italienne avec les traditions culinaires de leur région. Leur rêve devient réalité. Inspiré par la divinité romaine Janus, qui regardait autant vers le passé que vers l'avenir, Paolo et Matteo ouvrent Giano, un restaurant qui respecte les traditions et embrasse le futur. Arrive Simone Bonelli. Après avoir travaillé 4 ans dans un restaurant étoilé Michelin en Italie, Bonelli s'exporte à New York, où il lui faut six petits mois pour se voir attribuer 2 étoiles par Frank Bruni, critique culinaire pour un petit quotidien dont vous aurez peut-être déjà entendu parler, le New York Times. Aujourd'hui, à titre de chef exécutif et co-propriétaire de Giano, le chef Bonelli allie les techniques les plus sophistiquées à des saveurs magnifiques et à des présentations exceptionnelles. I knew nothing about Giano's until I opened up the Open Table app to locate a restaurant close to my location. The reviews looked great.....the reviews were 100% right. The food and the serve were outstanding. I will be back.

A wonderful restaurant, great service and staff, and the food was exceptional and very fairly priced. This would be five stars across-the-board, except we were seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant so when the restaurant was full, it was very very hard for us to hear one another. But as the evening went along and people left, it was much much better. We will definitely go back, and be specific about requesting a table along the wall.

I love eating at Giano. Had such a good experience there. Marco took great care of us. The pesto pasta and barratta was so good. And the ragu pasta. And aprerol spritz’s were wonderful

From start to finish the service was top notch! The foot itself was delicious! We had the octopus to start and then both choose a pasta dish (special lasagna for my husband and spaghetti puttanesca for myself). We also had tiramisu for desert! Highly recommend to anyone who wants a traditional Italian family run restaurant!

I saw all the 5 star reviews, didn’t believe them. Had to be bots right? Nope. That was the best RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE i’ve ever had in my life. Sooooo friendly, best wine ever, out of this world food. I’m now confident that they genuinely earned 1500 five star reviews. Mandatory for your NYC food list.

I had such a fantastic birthday here. Overall, amazing experience and great prices. Very authentic Italian food. The wait was very long. It was busy so just beware that you could be waiting 30 to 45 minutes to talk to your waiter. We weren’t in a rush, so it was fine.

Be alert the hostess may seat in the back with a view of the kitchen garden, dirty dishes. Our entrees came 50 minutes after the appetizers! The waiter did not apologize or offer something gratis to make up for the wait. There are more thoughtful Italian restaurants. Skip this one.

As always, a combination of genial service and very good northern Italian cuisine served up in a friendly, informal but very professional fashion. Very good list of Italian wines at prices that are reasonable, for NYC.

Our first time dining at Giano’s and we cancelled tonight’s dinner elsewhere so we could come back! Why go somewhere else when from the very first “Buona Sera” on the phone with Roberta to the constant light-hearted hospitality from Paolo, to the expert direction from Matteo, and the attentiveness from our table server Sergio, we were treated to the best authentic Italian dining experience. Thank you from the best traditional pasta dishes to the perfectly done salmon…and the dessert was crazy good! Great night and wonderful people and awesome food…who could ask for more?

Went here for my birthday and it was exceptional! From the homemade pasta to the lovely staff, I couldn’t have picked a better place. Highly recommend and will be coming back to Giano.

Our favorite spot in the neighborhood … Paulo and Roberta transport you to Napoli with all of the traditional and modern Italian charm. Great dishes, some specials flown overnight from Naples … all in NYC (high praise when there are 100’s of Italian spots around, but this one disappoint!)

You cannot go wrong at Giano, no matter where you sit or what you order. The staff are the best and the food is straight out of an Italian kitchen, as if you’re dining directly in Milan.
