The Generals Restaurant has the unique advantage of being open on a Monday Evening. However it has other attributes in that the food is very good and the service is excellent. The menu is diverse and there is always an interesting special. The dessert offerings are not to be missed. The restaurant is located in an Historic Hotel so it’s setting (and the Bar) are different from the many other options in the area.

Our dinner here was superb! Logan was our waiter and he took great care of us. He checked with the chef for my allergens and helped us make great selections. We had the New York steak Oscar and the scallops and both were exceptional. Compliments to the chef! Thank you Logan for great service!

Food was flavorful, good sized portions and service was great! Jodi was super friendly and attentive. Drinks were tasty too and prices were reasonable. Would definitely return when in Galena!

We really enjoyed our experience here. We celebrated a birthday and they sprinkled confetti on the table which was nice. I highly recommend the Diver Scallops - very delicious and I had it with the mashed potatoes and asparagus. My husband had the pork chop which was a bit dry and his sides were mixed veggies and asparagus which were both very good. We also ordered the beef tenderloin crostini and my husband ordered a Cesar salad. Both were excellent. The restaurant was very quiet and there was a pianist who played for a bit which was nice. We enjoyed our experience and highly recommend the restaurant if you are in Galena!

very nice venue. it would most probably have had a nice ambience if we did not have the unfortunate incidence of having a group of loud obnoxious people (the type of people it would be nice to see turned away) get there right before us. What ever happened to dressing for dinner, or dress codes for fine dining? This is one of those laces that would really be nice if it had one. you pay for the experience, and that experience is lessened by those individuals that do not/ cannot act civilized, let alone respectable.

We celebrated a 75th birthday and were greeted with balloon and confetti! The wine was excellent, the food was delicious, and the service professional & attentive. We especially enjoyed the piano music and the ambiance of a first-class big city restaurant. Will definitely recommend it to friends & family!

The ambience was lovely. The service was excellent. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast and unfortunately the chicken was very tough, although the flavor was good. We all loved the bread. Thank you for the enjoyable entertainment.

Our server Carson was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, hot and cooked perfectly. We were impressed with your staff especially those bringing out the food and clearing the tables. We enjoyed the piano music also!

The hotel/restaurant ambiance was very nice. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Wished we would have paced ourselves better because food came out SO fast! One entree was a ribeye and I had the delicious shrimp special. Will recommend and return sometime.

Wonderful place -- this was our first visit. Historic hotel, vintage feel, comfortable dining room, plenty of history, excellent food, service was not too bad given packed house that night. Better than we thought it might be given the full house we saw around us. Filet was outstanding. Parking fairly convenient. We would go back.

Really wanted to give a positive review, for our group of six, service was slow, one of ribeyes undercooked. Took an exceptionally long to get the bill and then checkout. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, overall the entrees were enjoyed. Seem to have nice wine list. Tighten up on the service piece and this a cool historical space to dine.

If you’re looking for the best place in Galena to have an awesome incredible dinner, then the generals is the place to go to fabulous tasting food service was stellar. Everybody working together was awesome. Thank you for the experience. Be sure you eat there. It’s one of Galena’s best kept secrets.

We always enjoy our meals at the General. Maybe a little peppermint ice cream would be nice as an option to the dessert cart. Jasmine rice side was bland and dry. Otherwise most excellent and a great server. Thank you!

Our server Julie was so gracious and funny, we had such a wonderful experience in her care. The food was quite yummy (ravioli, pasta and Salmon by our group). Highly recommended.
