Great experience for Mothers Day brunch. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was super friendly even if a little slow. Would recommend!

I made a reservation for 4 at the bar, knowing that there was no way we would be able to converse with our friends. The young redhead host who holds his head and gives eye contact like Princess Diana(a compliment, they’re absolutely gorgeous), was able to get us seated at a table for 4 with a minimal wait. The food was OUTSTANDING! Our server had dark, tousled, short hair right out of a Ralph Lauren ad, knew the menu and wine list inside and out. He was brilliant. The popovers, the gnocchi, the strawberry salad, the short rib Campanelli, the goat shank, and the fish were spectacular. And the wine pairings were perfection. We used to live 2 blocks away when the restaurant was being built out. And we dined there the first week the restaurant was open. Although Ned is gone, and the concept has changed, one thing remains the same. The commitment to serving the finest food, the quirky and lovely service and the festive ambience. Our friends from San Diego had looked at the menu before hand, never having eaten here before. Their expectations were exceeded. They make it to Austin once a year, and F&D is on their permanent rotation from now on. Thank you for letting me run back in while you were closing. It didn’t hit me until I got to our car that I had to use the facilities. This has always been one of the best restaurants in the City, but the bar has now been raised. Bravo to the new owners. P.S. The trim woman who took our drink orders should be a stand up. She’s charming and hilarious! It had been a minute since we’ve eaten there, because after the lockdown our dining out habits changed. But F&D is back on our regular rotation! Thank you all preparing the cuisine, and the entire staff. All expectations truly were exceeded.

The food was lovely, but the service was somewhat off. Overall the servers were friendly, and we were asked to order everything at once to ensure the kitchen could course out our meal appropriately. But we were often waiting a long time between courses and entrees did not come out at the same time, leaving some people waiting while food got cold. There was also an issue with flies, which was somewhat offputting.

Foreign and Domestic is always a hit, their goat shank was excellent with japanese plum flavors and cavatelli also amazing.

Food, service, and atmosphere were excellent as always! This restaurant is a treasure with its thoughtful menu and exceptional happy hour offerings. The Gruyère and pepper popovers are one of my favorite bites of food ever!

If weather permits, sit outside. It's too noisy to conduct conversations indoors. We had a pleasant meal. Being outside does seem to mean that service could be a tad slower, since you can't exactly catch your server's eye.

F&D is one of my top favorite restaurants in Austin. It’s absolutely delicious and I genuinely look forward to going here, no matter how much we frequent this place. I give it a gazillion gold stars.

The service was superb. Our server was on point. She was awesome. We had the frittata, steak and eggs with biscuits on the side. The quality of the steak was excellent and it was cooked as ordered. I ordered a decaf coffee (doctor's mandate) and it was accommodated. For the quality of the food served, it was surprising affordable. We plan to come back for dinner and seat at the counter. I am looking forward to tasting the mushroom creme brûlée.

Dining at the counter provides the best seat in the house as you watch the skilled team of chefs prepare your meal. As a good home cook, I am always impressed at how the staff at Foreign and Domestic manage to turn out dish after dish with wonderful consistency and appearance. Love the popovers!

We had the best seats in the place - at the bar. We were able to watch the plates being prepared in front of us. Food and service were outstanding.

Foreign & Domestic is outstanding. I've personally loved most of the things I've ordered. The service is lovely, friendly, and knowledgeable. Get the gnocchi, popovers, and burger for sure. Our experience with the risotto was that it was salty to the point of being almost inedible. Stay away unless you're deficient. The fish is good, but the rest of the plate (veggies, etc) is meh. All the deserts are to die for. Overall, it's one of my favorite spots in Austin. Just beware of certain dishes, and you'll have a great experience.

One of my favorite neighborhood restaurants which we have to drive to since we are downtown. The waitstaff are always friendly and take time to explain specials and answer questions. We go for the $1 oysters on Tuesdays and get so much than that. Make sure to try the bread!

We hadn't been to Foreign and Domestic for over 10 years - and now we are mourning all the lost opportunities! Fabulous meal - every item we had was excellent. The popovers were better than I remembered. The strawberry salad was perfection. The mushroom gnocchi was delicious. And my husband says the hamburger was one of the best he's ever had. I can also attest to those amazing pomme frites! Highly recommend!

A wonderful gem in Austin with a great menu and friendly service. Valet parking is included. There is an extensive wine list and all of the items I had were awesome! Definitely worth a visit when in town.

Maybe they just had an off night? Maybe our waitperson was a trainee? Maybe new personnel in the kitchen? Usually dinners at F&D are outstanding, so this experience, while adequate, was a disappointment. The kitchen was slow. Our waitperson seemed overwhelmed--Tuesday nights *are* busy, due to the $1 oysters thing--and those of us sitting outdoors were maybe out of sight and out of mind. A cherished appetizer has suffered from a recipe change, plus its preparation was rushed. I mean, I ate it all, but... On the plus side, you can actually hear your dinner partner if you sit outdoors, unlike the echoey interior. Suggestion: Put a coat rack or two outside, and some purse hooks under the tables. People kept putting things on the backs of their chairs, and the things kept sliding off and falling into the dirt. Not their best night, but I'll be back.

I really wanted to like this place… I’m all about supporting local businesses and the farm to table concept, but respect is earned, not automatic. After arriving at 12:25 for a 12:30 reservation, the staff finally moved a couple of 2-tops together in the parking lot at ten-after-one, and sat us a few minutes later. The waitress (who unwillingly got “stuck” with our table) brought us water and a coffee, took our order, and vanished. No coffee or water refills, no “how is everything”… nothing until she brought the invoice. The food was, for the most part, decent; but I couldn’t get past the poor service.

Great energy on Sunday Morning. Great team on the line behind the chef’s counter(my favorite seats), and the service staff and French Press made the afternoon for us! Thank You Chef Heard and staff!

Fantastic dining experience! And they beautifully packed up our leftovers in environmentally friendly containers. The popovers, the chicken liver mousse, and the pork collar were amazing. Looking forward to a return visit.

It has been a long time since I’ve had such a meh experience at a restaurant. The food was salty, occasionally to the point of inedibility. Several of us ordered the tasting menu and there was clearly no plan in place as to how to pace delivery, especially when others at our table did not order it. There were strange serving and plating decisions (small bowls for large portions of pasta, ridiculous ratios of sauce to noodles, etc). Service was extraordinarily slow. The AC was cranked so high (in March!) that I had to go to my car to get a jacket. And to top it off it was loud enough that having a conversation required shouting.

Foreign and Domestic has an excellent menu. There are not a lot of items but they are all AMAZING! The Happy Hour is excellent and if you get there around 530 its not busy and usually you can still find parking! The popovers are amazing. So is the Gnocchi. Those are two of our go to items here. Enjoy!
