I had a profoundly disappointing experience at Fixe Southern House in Austin, TX on Father's Day. Despite having a reservation for 2:45 PM, my father and I were handed a bar menu upon arrival. The front desk lady informed us that the kitchen was only serving from the bar menu past 3 PM. Strangely, diners who arrived at 3:15 PM were given the full menu. This inconsistency was frustrating and baffling. We ordered appetizers but refrained from ordering alcoholic drinks as the limited menu didn't appeal to us. When I declined to order a drink, the waitress rolled her eyes at me. This unprofessional behavior is unacceptable—especially considering not everyone wants or is able to drink alcohol. Even after requesting the full menu, the waitress failed to provide one. The restaurant was only a third full during our visit, yet the front desk lady attempted to move us to the bar after we had been seated at a regular table. The staff's rudeness and lack of consideration were evident throughout our meal. They made no effort to ensure we had a pleasant experience, which was especially disheartening on Father's Day. My father was very upset to the point where he didn't want to do anything else fun for the day, just go home and forget this experience happened. He was never this down before. I regret every penny I spent here. If Fixe wants to run a successful restaurant, they need to look in the mirror and train their staff to be service-oriented rather than attitude-driven. This was my first visit to Fixe, and it will undoubtedly be my last. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone; in fact, I will go out of my way to warn others against it.

This place is always a must when I visit Austin. The biscuits are insanely delicious, however, I wish there were more vegetarian options.

Justin was an excellent server. He explained everything clearly and with care. We were treated very well. The food was delicious, especially the biscuits.

My only very minor complaint was the noise level. Food was fantastic, the service was attentive and informative. I'm pretty sure that they serve those biscuits in heaven...

We loved everything from start to finish, from the N.A. cocktail to the pecan pie- must try! We had the red fish and pork chop for our entree and we left very happy.

So mid. The sauce that came on the $85 ribeye tasted only like butter. When spending almost $100 on a steak it better be something worth paying for. Biscuits were okay, only tasted of butter. It was like southern food made by someone who’s never eaten southern food.

Fixe is a reliable place for food that makes everyone happy! My only negative was that the waitress didn’t ’read the table’ very well and interrupted every time she came to check on us. Not pausing, or standing there waiting her turn to speak or us to acknowledge her, just always an interruption as if what she had to do and say mattered more than us. I get she was busy, I’ve been a waitress so I get it, but she could use a bit more training in her approach.
