Originally opened in 2005, Garrett Harker’s flagship restaurant is reopening its doors up Beacon St. only three blocks from its original location. Eastern Standard continues to offer seasonally focused New England interpretations of classic brasserie fare under the direction of Culinary Director Nemo Bolin. The menu features raw bar and charcuterie, nostalgic favorites like Frisée aux Lardons, Steak Tartare, Baked Rigatoni, and Butterscotch Bread Pudding, and some new soon-to-be-instant-classic dishes. No corporate restaurant chain or Hollywood set designer could ever recreate The Biltmore Vibe. In 1914, the Biltmore opened and served up breakfast and brew at 7AM for the overnight crews from nearby factories. It came with a 4 lane basement bowling alley that was a local hangout for decades.There was talk of a speakeasy during prohibition. The Biltmore was across the street from a regional rail stop and often hosted private events for dignitaries, politicians and celebrities.Much of original brick front and interior has remained the same over the many reincarnations of this legendary bar. The original old growth wood flooring has stood up to many timeless celebrations as well. Celebrating this neighborhood legend while serving up fresh new takes on classic dishes and drinks is what The Biltmore is all about.
