L'Emmer & Rye vous propose une cuisine rustique et inspirée des saisons dans le quartier historique de Rainey Street, à Austin, dans l’État du Texas. Premier restaurant américain contemporain de la ville à servir des dim sum dans le cadre de ses repas, il vous permet de les commander directement de chariots ambulants, à partir d'un menu tournant hebdomadaire utilisant des ingrédients locaux de la ferme à la table. Grâce à un moulin, l'Emmer & Rye fait moudre le grain frais du pays tous les jours pour fabriquer son pain, ses pâtes et son dessert. En plus du service de souper, le restaurant est ouvert pour le déjeuner-dîner le week-end et propose des spécialités en fin de soirée le jeudi, vendredi et samedi.

    Went to Emmer and Rye for the first time after years of hearing people rave about it. First, we were instructed to order everything up front so they can space out the dishes. There were significant lag times and at one point 2 pasta dishes came out at the same time and one of the dishes was unfortunately served cold. They never offered to switch our plates for clean ones, so we had to request clean ones. The service left something to be desired and particularly since the restaurant was not that busy. The butter pecan ice cream in the pb j was good (the sorbet though is too overpowering to get the savory part of the dish) and the Johnny Cakes were tasty. In summary, a few good dishes but the service was lacking and the food was a bit pricy all things considered.

    Decided to try this place as a group of locals. The restaurant was hot and the service was not acceptable for the price of what is being served ie $15 bread and butter. We sat waiting for our waiter for over 15/20 mins. Finally some one else took our drink order and when we tried to order the bread was told “we don’t serve it like that and your waiter will explain” which he didn’t for at least another 10/15 minutes. They wanted us to order everything at once to be “coursed out.” None of the meal was coursed out appropriately. The ironic part was I haven’t seen this much staff in restaurant in a long time, it is unclear what they were doing. The pastas were the best thing we had. And the bread when it finally came was not enough bread to even go with the butters they give you. If your down on rainy visiting this is a fine place to go But there are far more interesting and better places in Austin. We won’t be back.

    What a fantastic dining experience! Emmer & Rye came highly recommended by our close friend who is definitely a "foodie" (a person who has an ardent or refined interest in food and who eats food not only out of hunger but also as a hobby). Still, it exceeded our expectations!

    I had a wonderful meal, made even more excellent by the kindness of the staff. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I will definitely be back next time I am in Austin.

    Honestly this was the best meal we have had in recent years. Everything about our meal was amazing. The restaurant itself is beautiful and inviting. Our party of 5 was celebrating and enjoyed sharing many dishes. Particularly outstanding was the bread service, the roasted cabbage, oysters, the cacio y Pepe and the smoked wagyu pappardelle along with the carnitas. Our least favorite bite was the Cobia entree. Something had to come in last place! Loved our server. Never felt rushed. PS the podcast in the bathroom was a great touch! Thank you for a wonderful meal!
