Our waiter was amazing and so attentive! I came for a birthday and he went above and beyond with a free dessert and bringing an umbrella for the girls not in the shade. Best birthday lunch!!

This place is run by morons. Checked in for patio with a reservation at 4 PM. Was told there are no reservations for the patio, it’s first come, first serve. But I couldn’t go up to the patio, despite there being many tables, because the server had not arrived. I was told to “wait“ until exactly the time of my reservation. that hostess was then replaced by another. At a few minutes after 44, I made my way upstairs. Despite being told that the patio is not open, there were numerous people already seated. I was joined by my guest and we were ignored for 30 minutes while everyone else was served. as we tried to flag down a waitress, we were treated as if we had “snuck in“ to the patio without a reservation. We were then approached by someone acting like a manager, and will read the riot act for failing to abide by the rules. L Alma does not need to worry about me returning. As I said, this place is run by a bunch of morons.

We had a table at the window. The table was clean but the window well was dirty - food crumbs and other stuff. Service was not good although there weren’t many customers. We had to flag down our waiter a couple of times to get her attention.

First walking in and approaching the host stand really set the mood for the remaining of our dinner. I greeted the hostesss and neither acknowledged me. When they finally stopped arguing with each other they asked how they could help and I let them know about my reservation. One of the host grabbed two menus and just walked away. She took us to a table right by the bar and threw the menus on the table and walked away. I thought I had made a note asking to sit on the rooftop. Either the hosts didn’t see the note, they didn’t have it available or they didn’t care. Our waitress was awesome so that improved our experience. The drinks were great and the queso blanco y rojo is the reason I was so excited to come back here. We ordered some tacos which I expected them to have better flavor but they were ok. All in all our waitress and the queso were the highlights of this dinner.

El Alma was the first restaurant we hit when we first moved to Austin….and it has been a frequent visit ever since. Always will be.

From the host to the server the service was unfriendly. They all looked like they were unhappy and miserable to there. The food was nothing to rave about very bland as far as flavor goes.

We used to love this place for their margaritas but this time, the margaritas weren’t even frozen. The texture was actually similar to ones you’d make at home. Not sure what’s up with the machines but I had to send mine back and noticed other people doing the same. We finally got seated upstairs after about an hour and the only saving grace for this restaurant was the waiter was amazing. Even if so, I honestly won’t be back.

I had the duck enchiladas with mole' sauce. My companions had the quail, also with mole' sauce. One of the best moles' in Austin. The margaritas were excellent and we got "happy hour" prices. Tostadas and salsa for nibblies while we had a round of margaritas and decided on our meal - try the lime-based salsa, it is "to die for". Excellent service - another superb meal at one of our favorite Austin restaurants.

Excellent food as always. We found a piece of broken glass in one of our cocktails. Pretty serious situation. I’d have thought they’d comp it to signal their appreciation of the seriousness, but they did not. Still, good experience. We’ll go back.

Incredibly bad and weak margaritas. We had 4 different ones and they were all bad. Food very expensive. Dishes looked nice but tasted bland.

Hostess (wish I had gotten her name), was great and helped get us seated despite my mistake of booking for 4 and not 6 like I intended. Perfect weather for the patio currently and our server was attentive and the food was good. Enjoyable and we will be back.

We had a group of seven and we all ordered something different. Each of us raved about the dish we got. My shrimp and crab chile relleno was so delicious I can't wait to have it again. I tasted my friend's avocado margarita - now I can't wait to have one the next time I go.

The food is outstanding! Authentic, flavorful, and many options. I had the two taco lunch plate with one chicken tinga and one Carne asado taco which were both full of flavor. The sides included a white rice with corn and peas which was the surprise of the meal. Fantastic flavor and I ate every bite. Service was good but there was some work being done and it was noisy and distracting. But the food was outstanding and I highly recommend. Enjoy!

I can't say enough about El Alma - but here goes: 1) the Food - **wow** their chopped salad... one of the best salads in Austin - > and that means something to salad connoisseurs like me-- spinach/greens, hemp seeds, grilled avocado, divine chipotle ranch on the side, great chicken, and some other stuff that made it superb. My friends' meals look great too (duck mole, carne asada, enchiladas, lunch plates). 2) serving size - not too big - yay - classy amount of great high end food - that's all you need. 3) service - really authentically nice people, prompt but not trying to push you along (we had a work lunch so we wanted to have time to talk). Nice location too. I will be back - for more than salad next time!

Excellent food, good service. Can get very loud! We had queso flameado with chorizo, the grilled shrimp, nopalita salad and dessert, banana bread pudding was the best! The only negative is they asked us to leave, we had out stayed our reservation, and we were already getting ready to leave… yes, we over stayed, but it left a bad taste in the mouth.

Great food and location, very festive and fun. Love the upstairs outdoor porch, but it was too cold outside when we were there. Not the restaurants fault of course. It’s ideal to go on a nice weather day. Inside was fun and festive, but too loud for a good conversation. All in all, will go again in a heartbeat!!
