I highly recommend Duke's. I go as often as I can. The food is always delicious. My favorites are the crab wontons, Mac-nut fish, salads (love the dressings), fish tacos. My son loves the ribs and chicken and my daughter loves the Hurricane Chicken - only served at lunch M-F. I've never had or had anyone in my party have food they didn't love. I also love Duke's in Waikiki! Love the ambience and the views. Servers are well trained. It is by far one of my favorite restaurants. Please tip servers 22% or higher. This area is a very expensive place to live and they always give great service, even when they are swamped. Ps I love their iced tea! Be sure to take photos of the area below where there are sea lions and across to La Jolla shores. Such an incredible place!!!!

We had an excellent Mother's Day lunch. We really appreciated the ability to just order off the regular menu as we were not interested in a typical Mother's Day brunch with large crowds. The Saturday-Sunday menu has good variety, including both breakfast and lunch selections. We've eaten here many times, and the wait staff is always very friendly and professional. And of course, the view of La Jolla Cove is stunning!

Dukes is a staple of the La Jolla dining experience. Service is great, ambience is great, food is great. I will be returning to this restaurant for years to come.

Made a reservation months in advance for a special graduation dinner for 8. Asked for a table near the water so our guests visiting from out of town could enjoy the view. Got stuck at the only table with a street view, not near any other diners. The host was a rude young man who basically said “you get what you get” and was not the least bit pleasant about it. The food took forever to be served and was inconsistent. Our waiter was nice but did not communicate well about the slow pacing. Won’t be back.

Celebrating a birthday with 5 other people. Service was FANTASTIC and food was delicious. We all enjoyed the atmosphere/view. Highly recommend Duke's for any occasion.

It was my wife and I first time here. We celebrated our anniversary, and our experience was phenomenal. Everything from the service to the food was fantastic. Thank you for making our anniversary so memorable. We will be coming back.

I was expecting a better view of the sunset. I did find a stairway where I could see the sunset not too far from my table. The menu online was different from the actual dinner menu, so I was a little disappointed by that. But the food was good. The Hula Pie was a yummy treat for dessert! Our waitress provided good service

We enjoyed a delicious and delightful brunch. I had the Coconut French Toast with berries. It was presented beautifully. I would have preferred that it was served with real maple syrup.

Loved it. Had a great table with view of La Jolla Shore & Cove. Our service was top notch. The Hula Pie was phenomenal as was the halibut entree we had. Oh, and the ahi tacos were an awesome starter.

The menu offerings had changed significantly since we were there last summer--still enjoyed but not as special or tempting. The setting of course is extraordinary. Our server, Jessica, was a disappointment--made an inappropriate snarky comment & much less professional/experienced compared with the other servers around us.

It was our anniversary and we wanted to go to a Hawaiian place because we were married in Kauai so we landed at Duke’s. We sat out on the patio which has a lovely view. The first thing we noticed was it was quite loud with a lot of people around us. Our waitress was wonderful, but in the past we’ve had mediocre service so it was nice to see an improvement here. I thought the food was tasty, but I must say that it’s a bit disappointing for the price you pay. Also, there are only 3 fish dishes (1 a special), and I expect more fish preparation types for what I considered was a seafood restaurant. The Duke’s in La Jolla has never been consistent with all 3 of the things we look for 1) good food 2) ambience 3) good service. We usually get 2 out of 3 of those. I had the Parmesan and Mac nut crusted mahi mahi, which was tasty, but the cheese was the main flavor (not the fish) and the macadamia nuts are just a few pieces chopped and sprinkled over the top of the Parmesan. It seems to me that they are cutting back on the more expensive food like Mac nuts (which makes it special), so they can keep more money in their pockets. Also, the hula pie has changed and I think in the same way, they’ve cut back on the hot fudge to save money. They used to have a hot fudge layer coated down the top to the bottom. Now it’s only at the top and they put whipped cream over the side so it looks fancy and decadent. My husband had sirloin steak with an add on to an entree of coconut shrimp for $13. He only received 3 shrimp! Definitely a waste of money. I’m not sure why Duke’s in La Jolla continues to disappoint us. When we go to Keoke’s Paradise on Kauai or Duke’s on Oahu, we always have a fabulous meal. I just wish it was the same here. Lovely touch with the host and waitress acknowledging our anniversary (and bringing a signed card for our table). The hula pie was a wonderful treat that was “on the house” too.

We had the most amazing meal, view, and service. Whenever we are in California we love to go to Duke’s. It reminds us of our time in Hawaii. The food was excellent and our server Ciera was delightful and entertaining. Overall a wonderful time and experience. Always end your meal with the hula pie!!

The Tristan lobster was delicious but the sauce as well as the butter were overkill. The lobster would be best with butter and then the sauce on the side for those who would like to savor the sweet lobster. Our server rushed us along. We spent a small fortune while the table next to us split a margarita and sat there much longer than we did. No one bothered them. Also they ran out of sweet vermouth. That was a disappointment.

The location and vibe is perfect for a restaurant that has a nice view of La Jolla beach but don't come for the food. Our macadamia crusted fish was very salty, the portion of the nachos was not worth the price, and the beef patties on the burger and loco moco was very average at best.

Really delicious food (Poke bowl, fish tacos, French Toast, Lava Pie for dessert), friendly and conscientious server, and absolutely gorgeous setting. Duke's La Jolla made our daughter's 21st birthday really special. We'll be back!
