Les co-propriétaires Brian Piccini, Christopher Coombs, chef exécutif, et Jason Irving, directeur général et sommelier, sont fiers de leur primé resto-bar Deuxave, situé dans le quartier de Back Bay. Makes me sad to write this about one of our favorites! Mother's Day dinner was a terrible experience top to bottom, and we owe the owners honest feedback in hopes of improvement. We didn't mind being seated inside even though we requested outdoor dining. We started to notice an issue when we received water for the table, but no bread. One of our six menus had no menu sheets inside so we shared. A server asked about a drink order and we learned that the Bloody Mary mix was no more, so we subbed another choice. The Shirley Temples were watery and had no cherries-- isn't that what they're famous for? After lingering for 30+ minutes we asked about placing an order, and made another ask for bread. We were told upon ordering that one entree was out, but only after ordering did we learn that two other protein entrees we wanted were also out; we subbed those for pasta and duck meals. Appetizers took a long time to come out, still no bread, and no water refills. Until we asked again. Evident by this time no one was paying attention, we lingered a while longer before entrees were served. Our three tagliatelle dishes were tasty but greasy, the two duck entrees were luke-warm and overly salty, and the med-well strip steak came med-rare and was sent back for more heat. And still, no bread. 2+ hours in- we decided to call an early end to the night and asked for the check before any dessert orders. The final insult? The itemized bill that included, at the very bottom, a $10+ 'Kitchen Appreciation Fee' . Really? Our experience this evening was not mixed- it was just terrible top to bottom; service, management attention to operation, food quality, food timing, etc. Nice touches like real towels for hand drying in the washrooms are wasted when the bin to collect the towels overflows onto the floor- symbolic, perhaps, of a wonderful Boston place with no one at the helm.

Food was not good, though it was edible. But absolutely not worth the money. They also tried to deny us the table we had reserved and instead tried to stick us in a dark corner. Restaurant GM was a real jerk about it. I had to tell him off for 5 minutes before he finally gave us our reserved table. And I watched the restaurant during our whole time there - never were they anywhere near full. So the GM is just a jerk. Really too bad that what used to be a nice restaurant has turned into such a low quality place.
