This is such a cute restaurant! Our server was amazing! Every time we come to Sac, we go here for dinner! Love the ambiance and the history!

If you dine outside, which is very much worth it, it will be cooler in the evening than you think. The waitress had a fairly good size area and she handled it flawlessly. My halibut was a bit over cooked, but the views and ambiance made it still worth it. This is one of those places that you just must try for the experience. Romantic, cute and fun, but not rowdy.

We really wanted to be able to say it was a delightful experience but it fell quite a bit short of our expectations. We were very disappointed to discover when we received our main courses that the descriptions of the accompaniments in the menu did not match those plated with our fish. The pecan crusted halibut had very little in the way of pecan crusting that we could identify and then the promised white bean cassoulet to accompany it was instead a very bland and lukewarm mushroom risotto. The mahi mahi that was to be accompanied by Himalayan red rice and fennel salad had mashed potatoes as the substitution and it was again not very warm although kudos for presenting the main courses on warmed plates. When we queried our server about the discrepancies in the menu, she said that the menus had not been updated – in this case, the server should have alerted us to the change in accompaniments if the restaurant chooses not to update its menus but really, they should have just updated their menus and not put the responsibility on the server to tell us. She seemed very overworked. We ordered the fritto misto as a starter which was excellent but when our main courses arrived, the starter plate remained in the middle of our table and was never cleared away until our mains were cleared. There was no support staff - the servers were doing double duty. When asked to confirm the “shortcakes with fresh strawberries and whipped cream’ listed on the menu was indeed what it stated, I was assured that this was definitely what I would receive. Instead, it was a white sponge cake layered with a cooked strawberry filling. No shortcakes in sight with what appeared to be one very large fresh strawberry in slices mounted in whipped cream added to the top of the cake. Most disappointing...

Nice to enjoy a dinner out in Old Sacramento— but the food and service was disappointing at the Delta King. Pricey for the quality of what we were served. Ok, but mediocre. Our waitress was friendly and checked in with us, but service overall was slow. She apologized several times over the course of dinner for having to wait a long time for waters, then our wine order, and subsequent dishes. Just an OK experience.

The location is wonderful. Our server did a fine job. The food was not good. We ordered three different fish dishes and all were over cooked and the sides were not tasty. The halibut was so over cooked we couldn’t cut the “seared” top with a knife.

The manager on duty (blonde hair, but I don't remember her name) was very kind and courteous. She was actually a pleasure to speak with and really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Unfortunately, the abundance of flies in the corner area where we sat wasn't too great. But the part that really ruined the whole experience was a young girl who was sitting with her mother at the bar. I think she may have been an employee there (off duty). I believe I overheard her name was Max or Sam. This girl had a voice that could be hear throughout the entire restaurant and she had no volume control especially when she was cussing up a storm every other word. "B*tch" this and "f*ck" that every couple of seconds. I had seen a number of people keep turning their heads every time she opened her mouth. Not sure if she was intoxicated or if this was just her normal behavior. I'm really surprised that none of the staff (or even her mother) told her to quiet down. Very trashy and ruined the experience.

Food was overpriced for the quality!! Twenty dollars for two crab cakes was hey robbery and they were not great! Coleslaw was just cabbage NO SAUCE AT ALL dry as heck! Fish and chips soggy! Burger was good though had to ask for the sauce and bacon was charged but not on burger. Drinks from bar were good but stuffed with ice two sips it was gone!!! Waiter was all alone and very busy just dropped our food and drinks at end of the table and took off running to next customer! It was a birthday celebration so I was pretty disappointed considering I paid 171.00 for four people to eat lunch. I won’t be back☹️

I hope it was just an off night for the Delta King, but Appetizers (Shrimp cocktail/ crab cakes/ beet salad) showed up about twenty minutes after being ordered. Pork Loin was oversalted. Salmon were okay. Three beers total. 170.00 plus tip. Ambience was the high point. Beautiful view of the river from an otherwise charming old steam boat. Not sure I can recommend dinners there but the 'Boat' is very nicely restored.
