To say that we were underwhelmed by the food at Chauhan Ale and Masala House would be an understatement. The menu is bazaar, separating the meats from the curries to be combined at the time of the order. This concept impacts the complexity of the food as the meats are fully cooked separately and then combined with the curry. The naan was also substandard. They came to the table flat and cold. The only good item was our appetizer. The whipped paneer was a good selection. I was really looking forward to an inspired, creative and flavorful food experience but left instead with a level of disappointment that was surprising. I would think twice before eating at Chauhan Ale and Masala House. There are far better options in Nashville.

So excited to eat at Maneet Chauhan’s Ale & Masala House. The food lived up to the hype and then some! Kirsten, our server, made incredible recommendations including adding the goan curry to the tuna catch of the day - an off menu surprise that literally had us mopping up the bowl. I had the TOC Championship Tiffin with a luscious saffron sea bass and melt in your mouth pork. Our vegetarian apps were not too spicy and oh so crunch. The shrimp kebab was succulent and the sauces danced across our palates. Everything we ate made us want more and then, dessert! Who puts donuts inside cheesecake? Maneet! Life changing meal with out of this world service.

The hostess were not friendly- no hello. Sat us by the toilets- we asked to be seated where there were empty seats - we were told to wait 10 minutes- why? We got a drink at the bar and gave our CC - hostess said table ready and I said we are trying to pay the bill - can you handle it - she said no and walked away. The pakora were cold, naan was cold and the 2 curries luke warm. Shrimp korma was watered down - no real substance. Manager seemed to be in his own world. When we left there was no “come again” or “thank you” from the hostess. A simple smile goes a long way. The restaurant was full so they have plenty of customers - why should they worry. I have never left a review in my life - first time. Thank you.

Absolutely incredible food, even if you are not an Indian cuisine person it’s amazing. Maneet came around table to table and took pictures and was the most personable person! Will definitely return many times to come!

Went for Mother’s Day with my wife and we were blown away. Food was spectacular! Staff was warm, friendly and very attentive without being overbearing. We had the poutine with paneer, French onion naan, and the TOC tiffin. HIGHLY recommend all three. My only regret is that we live in Texas and not Nashville so we could go more often. Definitely will be a must every time we are in Nashville.

Our second visit to Chauhan was as great as the first. I had the braised lamb in tomato curry and my wife had the shrimp and grits with both excellent. We also had the poutine with paneer instead of chicken and it was incredible. Tried some of our dining mates’ muscles appetizer which was equally just delicious. We want to come for cooking classes at some point but live out of town. It will be a great trip to plan!

We had Tiffin "sampler" which was the least value added item ($78) we ever had in Chauhan. Worth only $25.
