To say that we were underwhelmed by the food at Chauhan Ale and Masala House would be an understatement. The menu is bazaar, separating the meats from the curries to be combined at the time of the order. This concept impacts the complexity of the food as the meats are fully cooked separately and then combined with the curry. The naan was also substandard. They came to the table flat and cold. The only good item was our appetizer. The whipped paneer was a good selection. I was really looking forward to an inspired, creative and flavorful food experience but left instead with a level of disappointment that was surprising. I would think twice before eating at Chauhan Ale and Masala House. There are far better options in Nashville.

So excited to eat at Maneet Chauhan’s Ale & Masala House. The food lived up to the hype and then some! Kirsten, our server, made incredible recommendations including adding the goan curry to the tuna catch of the day - an off menu surprise that literally had us mopping up the bowl. I had the TOC Championship Tiffin with a luscious saffron sea bass and melt in your mouth pork. Our vegetarian apps were not too spicy and oh so crunch. The shrimp kebab was succulent and the sauces danced across our palates. Everything we ate made us want more and then, dessert! Who puts donuts inside cheesecake? Maneet! Life changing meal with out of this world service.

The hostess were not friendly- no hello. Sat us by the toilets- we asked to be seated where there were empty seats - we were told to wait 10 minutes- why? We got a drink at the bar and gave our CC - hostess said table ready and I said we are trying to pay the bill - can you handle it - she said no and walked away. The pakora were cold, naan was cold and the 2 curries luke warm. Shrimp korma was watered down - no real substance. Manager seemed to be in his own world. When we left there was no “come again” or “thank you” from the hostess. A simple smile goes a long way. The restaurant was full so they have plenty of customers - why should they worry. I have never left a review in my life - first time. Thank you.

Absolutely incredible food, even if you are not an Indian cuisine person it’s amazing. Maneet came around table to table and took pictures and was the most personable person! Will definitely return many times to come!

Went for Mother’s Day with my wife and we were blown away. Food was spectacular! Staff was warm, friendly and very attentive without being overbearing. We had the poutine with paneer, French onion naan, and the TOC tiffin. HIGHLY recommend all three. My only regret is that we live in Texas and not Nashville so we could go more often. Definitely will be a must every time we are in Nashville.

Our second visit to Chauhan was as great as the first. I had the braised lamb in tomato curry and my wife had the shrimp and grits with both excellent. We also had the poutine with paneer instead of chicken and it was incredible. Tried some of our dining mates’ muscles appetizer which was equally just delicious. We want to come for cooking classes at some point but live out of town. It will be a great trip to plan!

We had Tiffin "sampler" which was the least value added item ($78) we ever had in Chauhan. Worth only $25.

Everything we had was phenomenal. The apps, the drinks, the entrées. We had been wanting to try it for a while, and it did not disappoint! We will be back!

This is one of the best Indian meals I’ve ever had, and I lived in London for 10 years and I’ve been to India four times. Together with Brick Lane in NYC, it is one of only two first class Indian restaurants I’ve found in the US.

I enjoyed my Tournament of Champions meal although it was a bit overpriced at $78 for the smaller portion size. My wife got the red snapper catch of the day and it was very much overcooked to the point of approaching a crunch. All of our sides were very tasty. Being big fans of the Food Network channel, we went in with pretty high expectations.

The food was great and the server was great, he was honest with suggestions and we overall enjoyed it. I did feel prices were a little high in comparison to other similar restaurants, especially the bar drinks.

I ate here years ago and remembered it from then. This time was equally spectacular. If you’re in Nashville and you like Indian food, try Indian with an exceptional twist, try Chatham Ale and Masala House. If you’re a purist this may not be for you. I will say, however, you will miss out on a wonderful meal for the wrongest of reasons. To get there, run, bike, fly but do not dally.

This meal was perhaps my #3 in the continental United States - lifetime, all food genres (I'm 50 and travel a lot) From the moment our uber dropped us off, we loved the fun decor on the outside of the building, followed by the vibrant smells and beautiful decor as we entered the space. Our server, Emma, was not only friendly and a great server, but really contributed to our enjoyment of the overall experience. She helped us make decisions, answered all of our questions and truly seemed like she was part of the fabric of the restaurant, not just an employee. Every morsel of food we put in our mouths was like a flavor explosion. I can't even describe some of the flavors that we enjoyed last night! We definitely over-ordered and I wish there was a microwave in my hotel room! Can't miss: Moilee curry on any poultry or seafood, saag mac and cheese side, mussel appetizer. The puffed chickpeas and the chutney on the whipped paneer appetizer were addictive! None of chef Chauhan's basket ingredients needed to get chopped - all winners! xoxo

I took my 2 friends to try Indian food for the first time. I have converted them. Every dish we ordered was delicious. The favorite of the night was chili cheese kulcha. We tasted a flight of curries and now have our favorites. Drinks were yummm.

Mainly because we were a touch nervous about jumping too deep into Indian cuisine, which we knew basically nothing about, other than our belief that everything was super spicy, we decided getting our toes wet at Chauhan Ale and Masala House was a safe option. Holy smokes! I’m so mad at myself for waiting so long. The whole “everything is spicy” thing was completely wrong. They manage to create a flavor explosion in your mouth without burning your face off. We ordered the following: Top left: Ginger Garlic Shrimp - Moilee Top right: Braised Pork Shank - Tikka Masala Bottom left: Gol Guppa Shots Bottom right: Whipped Paneer Not pictured: Garlic Parm Naan Everything was fan-freaking-tastic. The same could be said for our server, Austin. He was extremely patient and helpful. While not likely the most authentic Indian cuisine, Chauhan was the perfect choice for us newbs. I’d definitely go back over and over again. I may have found my new favorite cuisine.

We ordered what our waiter recommended and every dish was a delight. Food was amazing with subtleties of sweet, salty and acidic yet full flavors from amazing spices. Highly recommend for all foodies!

The food here was some of the best of its type that we've had. Our server was awesome and helped us pick out a couple of great curries. The lamb was very tender and I would recommend that as the protein choice. I was glad that we had made our reservation early as the restaurant was full on the Friday that we were there. We will definitely seek this place out the next time we're in Nashville!

The food was very good - server was knowledgeable and friendly. Parking is expensive / not convenient ( even the validated parking at Whole Foods was only covered about 2/3). Otherwise a great experience - their version of an old fashioned is great.

The food was fantastic and plentiful! We had the Tikka Masala and the Korma. Big, bold beautiful flavors! The only drawback are the chairs at the tables. They are very uncomfortable. We asked to be moved to a booth even though there was only 2 of us and the booths are built for more than 4. Once we resettled, everything was great!

This is the best Indian food I have ever had. I was looking forward to eating at Maneet Chauhan’s restaurant and it was better than I imagined. The food and service was excellent. I highly recommend it.
