Le restaurant Chalkboard, qui a ouvert en mai 2013 sous la direction du chef exécutif Shane McAnelly, propose un menu moderne de petites assiettes mettant l'accent sur des plats de saison, axés sur la technique. McAnelly se procure ses ingrédients auprès des fermes et producteurs locaux, la plupart provenant du propre potager de plus d'un hectare dédié du restaurant, situé dans le domaine à proximité du Chalk Hill Estate Vineyards. Le menu qui évolue chaque jour comprend notamment des crudos et du tartare, des pâtes faites maison, des salades aux ingrédients fraîchement récoltés, ainsi que de la viande et des fruits de mer rôtis et grillés. La salle à manger a été entièrement rénovée en un espace contemporain et accueillant, pourvu d'une cuisine ouverte, de nouvelles banquettes, de parquet et aux finitions en fer forgé à la main. Le bar a également été remodelé pour créer un environnement animé avec de nouvelles finitions, telles qu'un comptoir de bar en marbre Carrera. Le Chalkboard met en lumière ses vins locaux et sa grande carte des vins au verre, de même que sa carte des cocktails inspirés par les ingrédients frais issus du potager de Chalk Hill.

The food was outstanding. The eggs benedict with duck rillette was a brilliant update. The service was great. Unfortunately, we were there the last day of service until they change format. I understand they hope to reopen in June with a new format and menu. We look forward to checking them out.

Casual fine dining. Innovative food but not pretentious. Cocktail, wine, and Armagnac all excellent and well presented. Service was professional and friendly. Dined alone and did not feel singled out. A very nice meal.

The hostess, Victoria, really made our experience great. We ended up arriving early, skipping the dining room, and eating in the bar because Victoria was so warm and welcoming. We enjoyed the duck wings and savory cheesecake, The food was good, but couple of things were mediocre on the execution (dry short ribs, hard Mille feuille dessert crust). I would still return. Still a good vibe and ambiance.

We loved the red pepper soup and the cheeseboard, also our pasta entrees, and the chocolate mousse was a delicious dessert. The ambience in the restaurant is fine, and the hotel is quite stunning. Service was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Chalkboard.

Our party of 4 shared starters of seasonal Radishes with Creme Fraiche & Trout Roe; along with the fresh Onion Dip and homemade potato chips, which one of our party remarked was so good she wants to be buried with it! From there we moved on to the Savory Cheese Cake (which was one of several excellent recommendations that our server, McKenna, advised paired excellently with theirbdelicious fresh baked breads). Parmasean salad was bright and refreshing. Our pasta course included the flavorful Porcini Gigli and Rigatoni. We finished with mothwatering, perfectly prepared short ribs, and halibut; and ended with a delightful Rogue River Blue Cheese and Sauturnes recommended by Chef Anthony Lopiccolo, whose skill at combining the freshest ingredients from the nearby Chalk Hill garden with locally sourced cheeses, meats, fish and produce is a welcome and praiseworthy addition to the noteworthy Healdsburg restaurant scene.

The food here was hit-or-miss. Some of us loved our food and some of us didn’t. The burger, fries, soup, and French toast were delicious. The bagel, duck Benedict, and the steak sandwich were simply okay. We all agreed that the cocktails were excellent!

My birthday dinner was perfect! There were 4 of us and we got the following items: mushroom pasta, scallop pasta, fried chicken, short-rib, and the kabocha squash. It was the perfect amount of food, so I’d say 1 item person, plus an additional item or 2 to share. Everything was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. I’m really picky when it comes to restaurants and I will 100% come back. Again, all of the god was great, but the mushroom pasta is next level umami. Great cocktails and wine as well!

Restaurant has for many years has had a unique, fun menu full of wonderful small tastes plus a few larger dishes and great attentive service. Format gave folks (from 2 to many) a chance to try lots of wonderful tastes, order more stand outs and experience unknown options with little risk. We understand the economic model of restaurants, but the new menu is very traditional - a very limited number of small plate starters with normal large plate options. Food continues to be good, but we miss the old format. As a business owner, I’d revert to old menu and gently adjust prices to accommodate unique model. It may be tough to simply compete with a me-too menu. Old restaurant was always packed. We probably won’t be back.

We were staying at the hotel on a rainy day and didn’t want to step out for dinner, so we decided the dine here. It was just ok. Service was wonderful, the waitress was attentive and helpful. The food was over priced and just not great. We had a greens salad that was just a bunch of inedible kale and tasteless dressing. A pasta dish that was very underdone, the pasta being almost hard and very chewy. Our mains were bland short ribs and fried chicken (the chicken was actually the best dish, while not wonderful it was tender and had flavor). All in all, after drinks the tab was over $300 for two people. At that price one would except pretty decent food. What we got ranged from terrible to ok.

Never order bagel with mix of beets and cream cheese and poor smoked salmon cd not taste it it was a mashed disaster grilled cheese sandwich was very good Our server Bernard was thoughtful polite and gracious hes a keeper!

It was good but was better last month when we dined! The halibut had good flavor but was overcooked. The chicken and salad were amazing! Cocktails always made with care!!!

The food and service were both excellent. We've eaten there numerous times and have never been disappointed. They had a menu change since the last time we were there but the kitchen crew did an amazing job, as usual. Will continue to highly recommend the restaurant.

The classic fried chicken with warm vinegar sauce was good and a generous portion. (I don’t recall the yogurt at the bottom with the sauce?) Parmesan salad was great. Baguette was very disappointing-dense, not crusty. Weird because some of the best bread in Sonoma County is made in Healdsburg! Service was lovely.

One out of four of our entrees was fantastic(Fried chicken). We thought the other 3 entrees were good, just a bit disappointing. Restaurant is high priced for our experience. Didn't seem comparable to others like Valette.

We had a wonderful experience. The food was amazing and the staff was very attentive. Especially Iana. She made our time there extra special and introduced us to fernet branca. We would definitely have dinner here again.

Had a very lovely lunch. Quite pleasant. The food was very nicely done, and the service was superb. We had a view into the nasty bits of the kitchen, but managed to just ignore it.

A cute and delicious little week night meal…there were 3 of us there. What a beautiful environment, we were in the back room. The food was simple but delicious. The drinks were lovely and our server was very nice and attentive. We will definitely be back!

The limited menu caught me by surprise, as there was no indication of its exclusivity when I made the reservation. To add to the disappointment, at least two other couples in the restaurant also expressed their dissatisfaction, which made the overall experience very disappointing. While the food was decent, it fell short of the standards one would expect from a Michelin award winner.

Absolutely superb! Everything was delicious... especially the godfather cocktail! And our server, McKenna was wonderful!

We brunched a bit early at 10:30 on New Year’s Eve and had a quiet corner all to ourselves. The food was very good, we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

While our experience at the restaurant was generally pleasant, I believe there is room for improvement considering the overall cost. The culinary journey had its highlights, with certain dishes leaving a lasting impression, while others failed to meet expectations in terms of seasoning and flavor. Unfortunately, the service was a bit inconsistent, as we observed delays in receiving basic amenities such as water. Surprisingly, we weren't offered sparkling water, and regular water was delivered only halfway through our meal, unlike neighboring tables that seemed to receive prompt attention. Navigating the menu for the first time was a bit perplexing. The categorization of dishes as 'first,' 'second,' etc., suggests a sequential progression akin to a multi-course meal. However, this proved misleading, as the third and fourth options were substantial entrees, deviating from the expected course sizes. The disparity between the smaller appetizer/shareable first and second items and the more substantial third and fourth options could be clarified for a more intuitive dining experience. In essence, while the restaurant offered some noteworthy culinary moments, addressing these nuances could elevate the overall dining experience to match the price point.

Service was great, rigatoni pasta and pumpkin soup was a hit! The restaurant was quiet when we arrived but quickly filled up towards 7:30pm.

Beautiful restaurant with large portions. Good service. The chocolate custard was delicious! Yummy fried chicken too.
