Our first time there, and it was very good overall! The place was busy due to it being Mothers Day and there was a table with toddlers so the noise level was probably higher than normal but that’s to be expected. Will definitely go there again

Food was tasty yet high priced for a dim steakhouse in a Vons strip mall parking lot. Ambiance is that of an 80’s steakhouse with the dark colors and heavy wood. It was loud probably due to large parties on Mother’s Day. Service was fine. Skimped on the Blue Cheese on salads. Steaks were cooked as ordered. French onion soup was amazing. Planning on returning for that, maybe for lunch or Happy Hour.

Outstanding as always. We just can't say enough about the quality of the food, we ordered filet mignon prepared perfectly, and thank you Fernardo for the perfect martinis!!! Brandon, our Server is the best. What a wonderful time!!!

We were shocked to experience such a noisy dining experience and equally disappointed to see so many (adult male) patrons wearing baseball caps at the dinner table. This was at 7:00 on a Saturday night, no less. This obvious lack of respect should not be tolerated by management and a gentle, discreet request to have them remove their hats would be appropriate, especially out of consideration to other diners. Your high prices would suggest a fine dining establishment and not a sports bar. Please do better.

This is our neighborhood gem... Staff is always courteous and the food is always prepared well... Prime Rib or Filet Mignon two favorites. I am glad to see it is frequented - it would be a shame for this Gem to disappear...

I took my mom there for her 80th birthday. It was so sweet that the hostess wished her a happy birthday when we arrived. All of the food was delicious. I had the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. Mom had the shrimp scampi fettuccine and it was spot on. I highly recommend for a reasonably priced steakhouse.

We're continual fans of every part of Carver's for over 18 years now. We live north of San Francisco but make the 600 mile trip to visit family here in San Diego. It never disappoints! Enjoyed cocktails before the meal and greatly enjoyed the garlic cheese bread! The menu is amazing with a great variety to choose from. My hubby's ribeye was sizzling as we'd asked for it to be seared. All meats were cooked to order even with varied cuts, sides, etc. Since we are senior citizens, we love the dark wood throughout, the fireplace adds warmth & comfort - it has always reminded us of the days of the "Rat Pack", Sinatra, Crosby, Davis Jr, Martin & Lawford. Our server had the patience of Job, responding to our various requests. Good thing there were only five of us! As always, already looking forward to the next visit!

We had a 7pm reservation for a group of 5 and showed up around 6:20 hoping to get in a little early. The hostess said it was unlikely but would try to get us a table in the dining room earlier if possible. We enjoyed some cocktails and appetizers in the bar while we waited and I checked back in about 10 minutes before 7 to see our status... which was "it should be pretty soon." As we were closing our bar tab, we noticed another group of 4 walk in for their reservation (presumably at 7) and be seated immediately. Understanding that a group of 5 may need a bigger table than 4, we ended up waiting until about 7:10 to be led to a table of 4 with a chair on the end. If that was the solution, then we should have been seated ahead of the other group... especially considering the host team knew we had been waiting. I figured since we had already waited close to an hour at this point, I asked to be reseated at a larger table that would comfortably seat 5 - which took another 15 minutes. We ended up being seated at 7:25 and the hostess "kindly" mentioned that the kitchen closed at 8:30. This is incredibly tacky and rude, IMHO... story for another time. We sat for another 5+ minutes before being greeted by our server. Things were a little slow to get moving but our server was otherwise fine for the first half of the dining part. We eventually got our food around 8:20pm and the server didn't check back with us until we were half way through our meals. A few of us wanted extra items but nothing super-critical. Nonetheless, if we had NEEDED anything it would have been a long time to wait. By the time we were finished eating (about 8:45), we were ready to go and asked for the check immediately. This took another 10 mins - and we sat at our table with a bunch of dirty plates while the crew was cleaning in the back and doing sidework. At no time did a manager seem to be aware of anything and there was no acknowledgment or apology about any of the delays.

Rare Society this is not. Very old school I used the Libby glassware they are using when I worked in resturant 1982. Now I have to say service staff could not have been nicer, attentive and on spot. We had the Prime Rib and I will say one of the best I have ever had. Very tender, trimmed well so not a lot of fat and great crust and flavor 10 out of 10. We found this experience to be solid and we will definitely be back, eager to try items like the double cut pork chop…

We used to go to Carvers regularly. This time the cost went way up and the quality went down. The steak was good but everything else was tasteless. We won’t be going there again

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Carver’s recently. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but once inside you’re transported to such a beautifully opulent steakhouse. The main dining area is full of warm, rich, dark wood paneling, plus a fireplace. I appreciated that there is an adjoining sunroom as well. Much better lighting for photos, etc. Service all around was professional, thoughtful and genuine. There is also a lively bar & lounge if you prefer that scene. Full menu served there. Bread service here is fairly pedestrian. If Black Angus and Outback bread had an offspring, this would be it. I may opt for the cheesy garlic bread loaf next time. The chilled Shrimp Cocktail was excellent. Six plump, succulent shrimps, elegantly presented. My 8 ounce Prime Rib (med-rare) was outstanding. A good enough portion size for me. Star of the plate was the Au Gratin Potatoes. Probably some of the best I’ve put in my mouth. I think what I appreciated most was the remarkable value here compared to other similar establishments. Early dinner service from 4:30 - 5:15 pm presents a special menu that includes all of the traditional sides, fixin’s, etc. Plus no added surcharges, junk fees or unexplained “taxes” on the final bill. The food and vibe here is definitively “fancy steakhouse”, but doesn’t break the bank. Highly recommended.

I have been to Carvers Steak & Chop House many times with family and friends but this is the first time I have written a review. As it has been in the past the food, the service and ambiance have always been above board. They specialize in Steaks and that is what they serve up well. If you are into Steaks then look no further as Carver is the place that will satisfy your pallet and of course with spirits and wine to wash it down!

The restaurant was very busy. We had two servers and they both forgot things we requested for quite some time. We requested a dessert menu, boxes, check … The servers were obviously busy and our requests were not a priority.
