We dined at Rubys Louisville the previous night and the experience was impeccable. Our night at C&J was quite the opposite. I started off noting on Open Table we were celebrating a birthday. The hostess asked if we were celebrating anything as did the server. Yes and yes. We didn’t even get a candle in our cream corn. The server was delightful but I think stretched pretty thin as we waited ten minutes to get a report on our wine. Our food came out and we sat there with nothing to drink. When the food did come my wife’s steamed crab leg was cold as was my steak. And they forgot the butter we asked for. The server offered to warm it up and I told him I wanted a new steak. After he left the manager came out and told me he was getting me a new steak. In the mean time the asst server girl offered us a half a load of the bread to take home. We also told her we’d like to buy the seasoning as a Fathers Day gift. We never saw either one. So the meal comes out for the second time and my steak was undercooked. So I sent it back yet again the server agreed it was way undercooked. It was brought back and we finished our meal finally at 10:00. I asked the server where the desert was thinking he’d realize he forgot the birthday event. He said we’d already asked for the check. The server brought the check and said they had comped me my TWO steaks (like I had asked for them to part the Red Sea with the request for a new steak). The whole experience just sucked. We hit every Rubys we can and have been to every one. We even met at the Precinct and got married. I also supposedly have a VIP account but it’s apparently split into two accounts. I’ve called and asked to fix it but it’s still a problem and the servers can never find it. We spend a lot of money at Rubys it would be nice if they’d fix it.

Beautiful ambiance. A high class establishment with impeccable and friendly staff. Our server, Ally, was friendly and attentive. Our food was amazing. The filet and ribeye melted in our mouths.

Meh… with all the 5 star reviews we were expecting so much more. We wanted to do something special for our 18 year old son’s birthday. We were seated in the middle of the dining room and it was not relaxing at all. There were numerous servers all around us chatting and running around. The food is very expensive, but we did not think the quality / taste was worth it. My husband likes his ribeye on his grill better than the steak he got. For the amount of money we spent for 6 people we expected a lot more.

We enjoyed a lovely evening in the dining room celebrating our wedding anniversary and my husband’s birthday. Every person we encountered was incredibly polite and professional. I was even escorted back to my seat by Joe, one of the bartenders. That’s the type of class you can expect at a Jeff Ruby establishment. Our server Jack was excellent. He gave us a great “history lesson” on Carlo and Johnny which was incredibly interesting to hear! The only complaint I have is also a compliment; every person we talked to asked us if we were celebrating anything special that night. When we arrived, the hostess who greeted us asked, the hostess who sat us asked, the server assistant, our server Jack, the bartender, Joe, and the GM. You all are seriously on top of things! However, I’d love to not answer 6 times whether we are celebrating or not, especially when the celebration was included with the reservation. But if this is the only complaint I can come up with, Carlo and Johnny is doing an excellent job of providing too notch service! Thank you Jack and Joe for helping make our evening so great! + The food is amazing!!!

This was our first visit to Carlo & Johnny's and we were blown away. The food was fantastic and the service was superb. We had appetizers, cocktails, wines, entrees, sides and desserts and every bite and every sip was the absolute best! Our server Chris was one of the best servers we've experienced, both knowledgeable and entertaining at the same time genuinely caring that we were enjoying ourselves. His assistant Evan was quietly making sure we had everything we needed before we even thought to ask. I can't even put into words how much Charlie impressed me for going above and beyond. We had been to Precinct before (which is always good), but Carlo & Johnny's has gained a very special place in our hearts and we will most certainly return to celebrate our most special occasions.
