Caffè Macaroni continues to be one of San Francisco’s very best & most authentic Italian restaurants. Extensive menu, great food, very friendly staff, and a classic North Beach setting. You can spend a lot more to eat “upscale” pseudo-Italian food at places like Aquerello or Sorella. At the latter, the manager will tell you that you need to leave after an hour or so to make way for the next round of guests. Never mind that you’re being charged a small fortune for the brief time you’re there. Head to Caffe Macaroni!

Our go to place in SF since 1990, love the food and the warmth and conviviality of owners Stephanie and Mario. Like being invited over to a close friend’s house for dinner and the friend happens to source the freshest fish and produce, ands knows how to prepare it. Superb wine options. Great value.

My 12 year old and I had early reservation on Valentine's day while we were visiting for the week. What a charming place! The restaurant was intimate, with only about 10 seats inside, but about 16-10 out in the covered, heated "parklet" on the street. The owners were warm and welcoming, and the food was delicious. They didn't balk when my daughter requested just plain spaghetti and I ordered the linguini di mare, with anchovies as a starter. Tiramisu and the brownie for dessert with delicious wine, and this place is a winner. We'd go back again in a heartbeat!

Tiny space with almost no inside seating, but enthusiastic friendly staff. The foot was fantastic. I loved the atmosphere but it is cramped and I tell you all about our neighboring tables conversations. If I lived here I would be back frequently. Three of ate plenty, each had a glass of wine, and the bill was $160.

To eat here is to experience the antidote for a screen filled life. Besides the perfect food (baby octopus ragu, pizzacacia), the camaraderie the small restaurant creates with fellow diners, and the care Mario and Michelle take with every detail, leads to a memorable, genuine, experience. I would eat here every day if I could.

I have never been disappointed at Caffe Macaroni. In fact I am always reminded of the real tastes of Italy. Mario is the ultimate host and chef accommodating any specific requests one might have. His recipes are authentic and delicious and the value is amazing. I am at a loss as to why this little gem never gets a write up by the local papers. Shame on them for not supporting this local Amal authentic family run restaurant.

Such a wonderful gem. The food is fantastic, and there are always a bunch of great specials. Prices are very reasonable, and the vibe is fantastic. Great for groups as well! Maybe my favorite Italian restaurant in SF!

This is the place we come when we want to feel like we're home. Mario and Stephanie are amazing people with warm hearts and sharp sense of humor. Their food shines through as if you are sitting in a small restaurant in an alley in Naples. Just ask Mario about what wine you prefer and he'll bring you the best bottle that costs a fraction of anywhere else in the City. Oh, and the limoncello and tiramisu are not to be missed!

Our second time visiting. Everything we ordered was delicious from the spaghetti and meatballs to the Papadelle with meat sauce. Restaurant looks to be a locals spot as the owners treated guests as family! We’ll be back on our next visit to the city!

The food is very good. I try to eat here every time l am in town. The owners are hands on and are the best with people. There menu is just full of amazing dishes. The wine is a bit pricey and they should pore a bigger glass. But the food is why I go and the 2 owners husband and wife are divine.

This is a place to dine anytime you want great food but don't need to spend $300 on dinner in SF. When you dine here you are family. This place is fun, consistently GREAT QUALITY & a wonderful value that will make you want to come back every day!

Been coming here for over 30 years! It’s our favorite place. It’s completely authentic, the food and wine never disappoint and it feels like a homey neighborhood restaurant with Mario at the hub! Our favorite dish is always the Gnocchi with Gorgonzola!

If you want a beautiful ambiance and a real Italian food, you have to come here. It is ran by a wonderful couple. The food it so good! I had the yellow tail appetizer and it was one of the best things I have ever had. If you want a romantic date go there. I have already recommended it to two friends.

Classic Italian restaurant in North Beach that has been there for years. Very small inside, but there are tables outside, too. We had bean soup and the pasta with clams and mussels with a glass of Sangiovese. Simple but delicious! Highly recommend.

Excellent food and service, quaint dining room. We have tried many items on the menu and while it’s all delicious, my favorite is the Pasta Nera Amalfitana, then end the meal with Stephanie’s limoncello cake. Already thinking about our next meal there. Thank you Mario & Stephanie!
