We have dined at Cafe Zola many times in the past; it is one of our favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor. Unfortunately, our experience at Cafe Zola for Mother's Day dinner was not great. We were seated right away, but waited over an hour for our dinner. Our server did not give us any updates during that time to let us know when to expect our food. When the food was served, I was given an entree that I didn't order. When I told our server, she apologized, and said that the item I ordered (steak) would take a long time if she re-entered the order. I told her to not do that, because we had waited an hour already. To the restaurant's credit, the server gave us a dessert crêpe on the house. I can appreciate that perhaps the restaurant was busier than normal for Mother's Day, or that our server may have been new, but in the end we paid over $50 for a small appetizer and a bowl of pasta that my wife and I shared.

Outstanding food. The service was good despite how busy the restaurant was. And it was bustling but still easy to have a conversation. A+.

Understanding this was Mother’s Day and the restaurant would be busy, I would have not expected the food to take as long as it did to arrive. Our server was very gracious, as it’s no reflection on him. Will make another choice should the food take this along again.

It was Mother’s Day, so not the best day to dine. Despite reservations, we waited over an hour for our brunch to be served. There was only one terrific woman hosting, seating, serving, etc. and it was clear they were understaffed and/or had overbooked for the occasion. Food was good, however, given the wait and service, it was expensive and not a great value. We will not return in the future on Mother’s Day.

Seated right away with our reservation. Service was poor. Waited 15+ minutes for a server , and one showed after we asked hostess. Never was able to get a coffee or water refill. Someone else dropped the food off and only got the bill when we tracked down hostess again. Caprese salad was drenched in all olive oil, unedible. Poured off plate onto table was food was delivered. Meal was not a pleasant experience. Crab cake Benedict was decent. Been going to Zola since they opened, but not interested in going again anytime soon.

Ann Arbor’s best brunch. Consistently good, the Turkish eggs are my go-to. Bonus: The artwork on display right now is gorgeous!

We went very early on Mothers Day. A few members of our large party (10) were running late so the hostess would not seat us, even though the restaurant was almost empty. Once seated, our waitress was lovely and we ordered quickly because some of the party had to catch flights. 6 dishes came out in a reasonable amount of time and then 15 mins later the remaining 4 came out. Luckily those with flights were in the 6. When we all stood up to say goodbye to those flying, the hostess was ready to clear our table even though 4 of us were still eating. I have had several very good experiences at Cafe Zola. This experience and the food were definitely sub-par.

Surprised at the underwhelming service and environment. Prior to this visit it was one of my favorite restaurants. We had family of 7 for early Mother's Day. Table was in a tight spot. Greeter barely looked or talked to us. The waitress just kept rushing us in the way she came back to table. The restaurant was basically empty so we thought maybe they were closing at 4 for break between dinner. Cleaning around us as if we were in the way. The vibe not great & food mediocre

Law school gradtion dinner. Plus was set for large groups snd great food selection. Loved that they offered a graduation cake from Zingermans that was great and a hood surprise. Kitchen was unbearably slow. We waited an hour for food. Plus it was very hot. Did mar the otherwise nice experience. I think they overbooked.

Waited forever even though we had a reservation. They also don’t seat until your whole party arrives. And after your party arrived, then they put your table in. Not really worth getting a reservation.

Truly delicious start to finish! The slow roasted chicken was particularly good. But all six of us in our group loved dinner (halibut, cacio e pepe, steak frites, etc.). And the desserts were so yummy.

Sadly, the portion sizes at our favorite restaurant have seriously dwindled while the prices have sky rocketed. Most disappointing dinner we have ever had there.

It was good overall. We had a birthday and they offered a free crepe at the end but we had already ordered many crepes for the main so the timing felt awkward.

The food was very good but it took forever to get our drinks, then apps, then food and we were a party of 2. Another party was seated beside us and they received their food a good 20 minutes before us. We were there way too long very frustrating.

Food was amazing! Has the wild mushroom avocado toast with a poached egg - no regrets!! The penne pasta was to die for as well.

We had Easter dinner with our son who attends University of Michigan. My first impression was that is was crowded (tables very close together) and very noisy. We had a hard time hearing each other. However, the service and the food was outstanding. We had a very good time, especially once my son reminded me that we were in a college town with a lot of energy. We left feeling full and energized! I would definitely go to Zola’s again. Note it cost over $200 for an appetizer, four dinners, two coffees and two desserts.

I believe my server's name was Sophie or Sophia. She was very attentive filling my water when it was diminished and doing the same for my coffee. My coffee was especially good! When I first got there I waited quite awhile watching other tables get service who arrived after me. I think someone forgot to notify someone that I had arrived! But the food was good. I had the Omelette Duxelles. The side of potatoes that were just slightly salted and a little fresh rosemary sprinkled around were my favorite. It was a good place for an Easter brunch.

We had a great dinner with friends at Cafe Zola. We used to frequently visit for brunch, but we rarely go for dinner. Food and drinks were delicious!

Food was amazing and service was much-improved! I haven’t been to Zola in a few years due to poor past experiences with the customer service of the staff. However, we gave it another shot recently and it was such a great dining experience. Would definitely recommend :)

Cafe Zola was not up to its normal stellar standards last night - service was a bit slow and my steak was not well prepared. I will come back because I know how great they are normally.

We took a couple of high profile clients to dinner at Cafe Zola (total of 8 in our party). We all had a wonderful experience - our table was ready early, the staff was exceptional, menu was great & food was delicious. I would highly recommend Cafe Zola and will be dining there again!

Waiting a long time for food, and a long time for the check. Kitchen unable to make omelette without onions. Eggs and potatoes very undercooked. French press coffee very weak, consistency of tea. Espresso martini made with hot coffee, and was served warm, and not chilled at all. Server did not check up on us. Booked reservation as a birthday celebration that was never acknowledged.

I'd go to Cafe Zola whenever I could or can! I just asked a long time friend to meet me there in 3 days for brunch. I LOVE the market, and also the food, music, ambiance, wait staff. One cannot go wrong! JH

Our experience was great! We were visiting with our niece and nephew from Chicago. They had college friends join us, who unexpectedly showed up with their baby. Our wait person accommodated us SO WONDERFULLY! Food was superb as usual. Loved being there on a basketball Sunday with parties from both teams well represented. We were wondering why it had been so long since we had dined with you! We’ll be back soon.

Every disappointed, service was incredibly slow, took 30 mins to get a coffee and a drink, was told they were too busy to make a Carmel cappuccino but could make a regular cappuccino ???? How hard is it to add Carmel sauce, in the time you took to come back to tell us it was too busy??? Food was just ok, way over priced for what it was, an omelette for $22??? With ham and veggies. Took about 10 mins to get check back with our card after we paid. Will not be back.

I’ve been a longtime fan of Zola but our last meal was disappointing. Oysters at $4 each were tiny. Mussels were cold. When I mentioned this to our waitress she said “sorry” but offered nothing more. I would have appreciated “I’ll bring you some hot ones”. Sigh.
