En 1983, Café Luxembourg a ouvert ses portes. L'établissement est depuis devenu le bistro de quartier par excellence de l'Upper West Side. La salle à manger de ce charmant restaurant de 90 places baigne dans la lumière chaude des lustres Jean Perzel et des miroirs antiques. Situé sur 70th Street à l'ouest de Broadway, Café Luxembourg accueille les habitants de New York et plusieurs célébrités de passage en ville. I love Cafe Luxembourg. This is the only place where I allow myself to eat fries!!! All the waiters are wonderful and well prepared. Enjoy!

Cafe Lux is a classic NYC restaurant. I don't eat out a lot but I eat here quite often because I know it will ALWAYS be good. When possible, I prefer to eat outside because it's a little more quiet and a little more private but the food is delicious and reliable wherever I sit. And the wait staff are generally excellent.

The roast chicken was quite good. The purple sticky rice dish was just OK and was pricey for what you get. Our server was really terrific as was the guy handling the reservations.

Friendly professional service. The tuna tartare with avocado was excellent. So was the wine , the 3 egg omelette and the donut holes dessert. However my Croque Monsieur was a disappointment. Frankly it looked and tasted as though it had come out of a package, the cheese pre-melted. We will be back. But would not order that dish.

We frequently eat at the Cafe Luxembourg before attending Philharmonic concerts. This time, we began with the Better than Bond Vesper and the weekly red wine special. Mary chose the smaller portion of Steak Tartare as a starter followed by the Mixed Green Salad with Avacado while I chose the soup special (Chicken Noodle) followed by the Country Frisee Salad. The flavors of these choice were exquisite as always, especially the wonderful bacon notes of the Country Frisee Salad. The staff are always attentive and prompt. This makes for a perfect pre-concert experience.

We had an absolutely lovely pre-theater meal except one member of our party ordered a chicken breast added to his salad and it was dry and tough. My omelette, my friend’s mussels and husband’s vegetarian burger were all fantastic. The service was over the top, as always.

Cafe Luxembourg is consistently a great place to meet friends and dine. The food is great, drinks suburb, ambience lively and lovely. However I've started to notice that the servers seem to always be new. There is a huge turnover and my server the other evening was fine except for one annoying habit he had, which others have as well. Even though I may be engaged in a deep conversation with my dinner companion, the waiter sees no reason not to interrupt to ask if we are ready to order, or to give us a desert menu or another drink. It's not a reason not to return, but maybe not as often.

We had a wonderful lunch. We were seated on the patio and it was very pleasant. I had a lemon drop which was the best I ever had. My husband and I each had the French onion soup which was amazing. The fish and chip were also very tasty. The service was also great!

The steak was all fat. It was terrible with no flavor and expensive. The waitress wasn’t very friendly. And there were two barking dogs in the enclosed patio (against health code). We’ve been regulars for years, but not sure I’d go back. It’s so overpriced. The waitress took so long to bring my second glass of wine that I’d finished my dinner and wanted to leave.

We had three meals at Cafe Luxembourg, during our six-night visit to NYC, once for dinner, and twice for breakfast. The food is consistently very good, the staff always friendly and efficient. We have eaten there on previous trips and certainly will for future ones.

Loved the roast chicken, crispy with amazing green veggies on side. Also the mint chip with a nice sized pitcher of hot fudge sauce ensured the meal would not be too healthy. Everything was perfectly prepared.

Each trip we make to New York City includes a dinner at the Café Luxembourg. We love the menu, the attentive service and the European atmosphere. Save room for the profiteroles.

Food was good, had the steak frites with sauce au poivre. Google says closes at 10.30pm but got in at that time without issues. This was a Saturday.
