Dine here often and nearly always for special occasions. This time the service was not up to the usual standards we have come to expect at this Brigantine. It was the Friday before Mother's Day and fairly crowded. Maybe they were short staffed or just didn't expect this many diners in the middle of the day. Our server was very friendly and took our order right away but he seemed to have many tables to serve. My clam chowder came without a spoon and by the time I was able to get anyone's attention it was barely lukewarm. Not a big deal but since you asked. Will continue to come back because it's my favorite place and the food is always good.

I always have a wonderful meal at the Brig. The service is always outstanding. But this latest experience, while our server Tammy was wonderful, I found my dinner to be sorely lacking in quality. I had the grilled swordfish and to be honest, it was overcooked and dry. The avocado butter was delicious and helped to save it but the broccolini was awful and the risotto was rather gummy. I hate giving one of my favorite restaurants a bad review, but for the price, I don't feel very happy about my meal. It was as though there was a different chef behind the stove. And even the creme brulee wasn't as good as in the past. The texture was more like a pudding and really, really sweet, almost like it came out of a box.

Specialty drinks seemed watered down. Wine selection was excellent. Wait staff timing was perfect. Although I did have ask for a extra napkin 3 times. We will return soon. Dave G.

Always delicious and consistent. It’s the second time I’ve had the shrimp and artichoke stuffed Seabass and I have yet to find a piece of shrimp inside, but it was still so delicious. I even plan on ordering it a couple days again. I’ll be on the lookout for that shrimp.

Our waiter, Dustin was great in all aspects . Service was superb and the food was excellent. Patio seating was perfect except for the noisy parking lot, which you have no control over.

We had an amazing meal tonight at the Brigantine in La Mesa, CA. It began by being seated at a great booth by the window. We then met our terrific server, TYLER!!! It was very quiet inside. He immediately took our drink orders, and our orders for soup and salad. I had a Diet Pepsi, and some Clam Chowder. Gonzalo had an Iced Tea, and the Brig Salad, and soup of the day, Lentil. During our first course, Tyler came by to take our main course orders. I had the Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut with Mashed Potatoes and vegetables. As for my partner, he had the Lobster Tacos with vegetables. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. We ended our meal by sharing a MUDD PIE!!!

Arrived excited for husbands 69th b-day. I saw the special event card at check in desk but was never given to our server. We had to ask about any special offerings for birthdays and was provided an amazing mud pie!! Stuffed shrimp was overcooked. Ginger sauce was runny and the wrong flavor for coconut shrimp. Green beans were under cooked couldn't even cut them.

Overall, everything was excellent. The restaurant itself is very nice and the food is fantastic. We loved everything we got. The crab cakes are delicious, not stuff with breading like other places, it was light and you got to actually taste the crab. The special halibut was delicious and so was the crab stuffed shrimp.

The neighborhood go-to for a "nice meal". Selected for special occasion - Birthday! Birthday person (me) had prime-rib and lobster w/mashed potatoes and veggies. Taters were cold, but tasty. Veggies were standard and ok. Prime rib was a nice cut and taste. Lobster was tasty and small. Spouse had macadamia crusted Alaskan halibut w/rice and veggies. Great fish! Nice 'n flakey. Mmmmm Complimentary mud pie. So good and so much! Server was exceptional and pleasant. Overall: Meh. I think I'll stick to the fish tacos next time at the Brig next time. Perhaps travel the extra miles for an exceptional meal for the price we paid. :-)

Excellent service and food! Celebrated a birthday and they brought a free dessert! Used a $15 birthday club discount too! Tried their French-Cut Pork chops..absolutely delicious with the marsala sauce. I highly recommend them! It was 1/2 price wine bottle Wednesday which is a great deal; they box what you don't drink to take home! Great restaurant and very fair pricing!

The food here is always great. Had the crusted halibut and it was amazing. The thing that keeps me coming back is the service. Coco was our waitress and she took care of everything and made us feel like royalty. My wife is vegan and she checked every dish to make sure no mistakes.
