Le Black Cat Farm Table Bistro sert une cuisine de la ferme à la table, à base d'ingrédients tout juste cueillis dans sa propre exploitation agricole de 52 hectares. Au fils des jours, le chef-agriculteur Eric Skokan prend soin des légumes de ses champs. Chaque soir, on, le retrouve dans la cuisine à confectionner les plats de son menu variant tous les jours. Sur la carte des vins du restaurant figurent de grands crus internationaux à côté de petits producteurs atypiques de régions moins réputées. L'évolution constante du menu donnent amplement aux sommeliers l'occasion de puiser dans la cave comptant plus de 400 bouteilles un cru du nord de l'Italie ou un vin biologique du Nord-Ouest Pacifique. Les cocktails de saison artisanaux comportant des spiritueux également artisanaux et des ingrédients locaux soulignent le talent des barmen professionnels grâce à qui le bar déborde de vie. Le Black Cat jouit d'une atmosphère chaleureuse et animée dans sa salle intime. Il est situé au cœur de Boulder, dans le Colorado, juste à côté du centre commercial historique Pearl Street.

Biodynamic & Organic Wine

We are a farm-oriented restaurant. How could we not support these farm-oriented wines? This does not refer to wines with 'farmy' or 'barnyard' tastes, but rather to wines that are made by people who are as careful with the roots of their vines and the soil they feed from as they are with the fruit those vines give. 'Organic' wine means the grapes have not been treated with anything synthetic: no fertilizers, no pesticides, no herbicides or anything made in a lab. Pests and diseases are dealt with naturally by introducing cover crops, and predators will pick off unwanted bugs and harmful insects. 'Biodynamic' winemaking treats an entire vineyard as a single living organism. Its goal is to actually improve the health of the land and ecosystem through farming. No chemicals are used at any point, and herbal preparations are used as treatments for the soil. Every important event in the vineyard's life is scheduled on a biodynamic calendar based on phases of the moon in order to fit in with the land's life cycle. Biodynamics results in healthy vines with deeper rootstocks which produce uncommonly expressive grapes with a surprising depth and purity of flavor. "Today's Acts Bear Tomorrow's Fruit". What is Terroir?

The concept of 'terroir' in wine is widely misunderstood. Put in the simplest way, terroir is every natural factor that makes a certain wine taste a certain way. The vineyard's climate, soil type, aspect and surrounding natural features all play a role in the wine's final taste and help make that wine special. This idea dates back nearly 1,000 years to when Benedictine and later Cistercian monks noticed that wines from the same grape tasted differently depending on where the grapes were grown. As a result, they began to catalog which grapes did best and where — eventually giving rise to Burgundy's Grand Cru system. That sense of place is what makes us fall in love with wine all over again. We drink wine to celebrate its differences. The steely, mineral-driven Chardonnay of Chablis; the earthy, barnyard richness of Rioja; the tar and roses of aged Nebbiolo. Each unique sip takes us on a journey to where in the world it was created — and back in time to the last evening we had the same wine with friends. Over-oaked, over-extracted fruit bombs do very little for us, because that wine could have been made by anyone and just about anywhere. But wines that really show their terroir — that transport you to one special place in the world with unrepeatable, unforgettable flavors — well, that is why we drink wine in the first place. Service was the best feature. Ambiance was ok. Food was mediocre at best. The family style serving of lamb dish was skimpy but that was ok since the lamb meat was tough and fibrous. For a meal of $125/pp not including beverage, tax or tip, the meal was outrageously disappointing. Will not return!

Although a fun and interesting experience having dinner on the farm in a " galss hut with a pot belly stove," the " tasting menu was so overpriced ( $125 per person) and the food did not meet my expectations at all. Having read about the success of their downtown restaurant I though the food would have been great to outstanding. Instead it was merely average. #1- only " 3 courses." the first " course was homemade bread and olive "with herbs" and prosciutto and herb tomato puree. (pretty basic)The second course was " pork stew" and braised squash- this was the best. Course 3 was their farm raised lamb and it was " rolled" and fatty and pretty disappointing. It could have been a delicious lamb stew or lamb roast or lamb chops,or it could have had a mint puree etc. For a non paired tasting menu it was too expensive ( The next night we went to Flagstaff overlooking the city and their tasting menu was $110 and was outstanding and 4 FULL courses and 2 chefs gifts in between.) The dessert , an almond cake, was very good. The overall experience was fun and our server was great but don't expect " tasting menu" 5 star food. Its a basic farm meal. They can do better.

By far, it was the best dining experience we've had since moving to Colorado. The food wasn't exactly my style, but it was still very impressive and my gf absolutely loved it. Our server Taylor was amazing, the private dining area was perfect and the atmosphere was everything you could hope for. We will definitely be back in the late fall or winter to enjoy the views and experience again!

This was our 2nd time eating at the Black Cat Farm (since the restaurant stopped serving due to COVID) and we will definitely be back for more. I'm vegan and my wife is gluten free. The staff did a wonderful job preparing a delicious ensemble of dishes that left us both with big smiles and full bellies. Perhaps the best part of the experience is the amazing setting. Meals are served in romantic little glass-walled structures among the flowers and vegetables of the working farm. We just learned that the farm is open year round with individual wood stoves heating each structure. Will definitely come back in the winter to experience the farm in the snow. Highly recommend Black Cat Farm for a special treat!

This was the most special dining experience I have ever had. Starting with driving out to the farm, every minute of our evening was magical. The staff was incredibly attentive. The portions were big and very mindful of our plant based diet. The food was phenomenal and served leisurely allowing time for petting their precious farm dogs, taking in the incredible views and sunset and walking around the grounds. We were all blown away by it!! The most incredible last dinner with our daughter before leaving her at CU Boulder.

Easily would have been a 5 with the old wine pairings and cocktails available. Restaurant was restricted by COVID and the resolution is a little tough and expensive to the customer. Wine orders need to go in by 10am day of your reservation, but there isn’t a menu to work with as it is all prix fixe so you are pairing blindly. There aren’t any wines by the glass currently, so you have a small handful of half and full bottles on premises, which were good versatile choices. Food was excellent as expected, eating on the farm is amazing in beauty and experience. Wait staff (1 dedicated person) was stellar and refreshingly honest about the wine choices available. Not a sommelier, but she clearly understood wine and has tasted them all. She had clear preferences which I sincerely appreciate. Portions for this kind of dinner were almost family style large, but made to darn near perfection. Prices have gone up a bit since my last visit, but definitely not a deal breaker. Just the realities of dining out these days, especially at a quality place. The 4 stars was only based on the website/open table lack of clarity about the change in location and the aforementioned wine/liquor issues. Proper wine pairings really were a strength of the black Cat, so it is missed.

I cannot imagine a more beautiful place for a romantic dinner. Just jaw dropping decor and natural beauty, with phenomenal food and service that was top notch but never rushed you. At this price point it needs to be special, and Black Cat Farms exceeded every possible expectation.

The Black Cat Farm dinner was lovely. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to make sure your experience is all positive. The food was fantastic and there was a lot of it. We enjoyed the evening sunset, the ambiance of the lights once it was dark and the subtle background music. My only suggestion would be live music during the evening to complete the experience. Will go back to dine with Black Cat Farm anytime!

It was an extraordinary experience. Loved the property, the location, the views, the staff was great, met and conversed with the owner which was informative and very nice, loved the animals, my 6 year old cousin got to feed the baby lamb and loved the food! We heard about Black Cat from friends in Baltimore and managed to snag a reservation (not easy!). It was well worth it—walking around the farm on which dogs, chickens, ducks roam freely was a fun way to start the evening. Warm friendly servers who explained each dish and truly farm-to-table food with a wide variety of vegetables in the starters, salads, and main dish made for a memorable evening. It’s pricey, but you definitely get an “experience,” not just a meal.

One of the best meals and overall experiences of our entire life. The farm was gorgeous and the food was spectacular. The service was also perfect. It felt like a dream.

The bread we ate was harvested from a wheat field 10 feet from our table. The rest of the food was harvested from the farm or locally sourced to fill in the gaps. Amazing 3 course meal. 100% Worth the $$$.

When you go to Black Cat Farm two things stand out beyond anything else, the spectacular setting (watching the sun set behind the foothills as you look out over the grasslands, farmlands, and mountain peaks) and the freshness and quality of the food itself. We were served many unique variations of their produce obviously picked that day - purees of root vegetables, unique leafy salads, pestos, steamed and roasted vegetables and potatoes that were so very sweet. The recipes used were designed to let the taste of the greens and vegetables speak for themselves. We were also served a large plate of pulled lamb belly that was flavored mostly au jus. They readily accommodated a GF person at our table and the service itself was quiet and not intruding. Courses were spaced well allowing time to walk around the farm and just observe your surroundings. If I had any comment to make, I would say that I think the chef could utilize the opportunity of using these wonderfully fresh and unique foods to present more creative and remarkable plates. Nonetheless, the whole evening was a wonderful event.

When Covid forced restaurants to close, they were forced to adapt to stay alive. Black Cat adapted by building private cabanas out at their farm. The experience (and the cabanas) evolved as weather grew cooler, winter arrived, and evolved again as the world made it to a summer of "new normal." This new Black Cat experience is so popular that it has become permanent! Owners Chef Eric and Jill have created the most unique farm-to-table dining experience. Your dinner starts its day in the ground under the Colorado sun, and ends a couple of hundred feet away on a plate turned into the delicious "five star" dishes we've always enjoyed. The food, wine, ambiance, and exceptional service are as great as we remember from the "old" Black Cat, but in a magical place that must be experienced to be believed.

A truly wonderful experience having a quiet/private dinner on a farm. The food and service were both excellent. The ambiance of having dinner while in the midst of stunning views, growing plants/vegetables/fruits, and animals made this a very memorable time.

Our party of 7 had a magical night out at the Black Cat Farm celebrating a birthday. Everything was perfect, to the rustic decor, the mix-matched vintage tableware, the fresh, creative food and the after dinner tea party. Hands down the best dining experience in Boulder county! We also loved our personable server and appreciated Derek making table rounds to check in with the guests. Highly recommend for a special occasion dinner or just a lovely experience.
