We hadn't been there in a long time (like 30 years) and it hadn't changed much, the same layout, the old high back booths, etc. The menu had changed of course and it was a lot more expensive. We were celebrating a birthday so we had the steak and lobster combos and also their brussels sprouts starter (delicious). The main course was very good but would have been better with some wine. Our server disappeared for about 30 minutes and we weren't able to order wine with dinner. She finally showed up, we ordered the wine and it still took another 10 minutes for her to get it from the bar. By then we had almost finished our meals so that was a little disappointing. We had ordered their "celebration package" with balloons, etc. and received a nice warm cookie dessert topped with ice cream. Overall, we had a good time and enjoyed the meal but the service we received was not up to par.

Black Angus is a long time known restaurant; and it was barely our first time. I don’t think it was 5 stars potential when we went because it could have been during a busy dinner time? Around 6:30pm on Mother’s Day. I will try again on a different day…and possibly a different meal. I had the full rack with sides and his and the sirloin steak with sides. The au gratin potatoes were great!

I reserved using open table and we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. After being seated we ordered steaks that were cooked too little or too much. The filet mignon did not taste good and the manager said they switched to a new vendor. Hmm. Maybe they should do a taste test before switching. I do have to say, the manager had our steaks redone and gave us a discount which was greatly appreciated.

Our server Betty was probably one of the best and nicest we’ve ever had!! She took such great care of us and was so knowledgeable about the menu.

Service was excellent from the bartender who was also my server. The prine rib was excellent as always. The green beans were leather and under cooked. Potato skins and the wedge salad were also excellent. This is my favorite location.

We were at Black Angus to celebrate two birthdays in our group.The five of us enjoyed the Campfire dinners, plus the Rack, and various drinks. The food was great. Our server, Betty, was very attentive and and excellent at her job. We look forward to returning here for another great evening.

Overall, this experience at Black Angus was terrific! The service by Alisa, our server, was top-notch! My Cobb salad was very good. The steak my friend had was too rare & had a lot of fat for his taste, unfortunately. Alisa & the manager did take 15% off the bill which was greatly appreciated. The Tokyo Tea was delicious. We will definitely go back!

Our server, Nathan, was outstanding. He is the best server I have had at Black Angus in years. Our orders were exactly as we wanted them and he stopped by our table frequently to check on us.

April 18, 2024 We were very disappointed with our dining experience at Black Angus Steakhouse in El Cajon, California. I've been a loyal Black Angus Steakhouse fan for nearly fifty years, but the past couple of visits have been less than memorable. I don't know if it's just this location or with the entire restaurant chain, but we visited (4 in our party) with high expectations since we were celebrating a birthday. The best I can say about our experience is that it was a total disappointment. We arrived about ten minutes before our scheduled arrival time and were greeted with a "not so happy" welcome by our greeter. No hello or smile was shared - just a "can I help you?" We waited until it was time to be seated, and when the restaurant was ready our greeter walked us to our table. Once seated, our greeter handed us our menus. After looking over the menu, we decided to order the three-item entrée (steak, lobster, and shrimp) with two sides. When we received our entrée, the first thing we noticed was that it wasn't plated in a pleasing way. Although the shrimp and cocktail sauce were tasty, the steak was not the quality (dry and tough) that we’ve come to expect, and the lobster was small and over cooked. Based on our experience, our dinner was not at all what we expected and was way overpriced in terms of the value and service we received. In addition to the food not being up to Black Angus standards, the service was terrible, and our server didn't do much to establish a "comfortable" ambiance. Our server just didn't seem to be very welcoming and made us feel that she didn't care to be there. The service we received contributed to our “less than memorable” dining experience, leaving us disappointed with our entire dining experience. I will be contacting the restaurant with our latest dining experience, but felt it was important to let others know about our dining experience at Black Angus Steakhouse. A “disappointed” family dining experience.

Service was slow. Had to request place settings after some food had arrived. Food arrived cold, especially the lobster, which was also dry and rubbery. Received incorrect (and cold) sides. Spouse and I both had the 6 oz filet, and hers looked nothing like a filet. It was oddly shaped and the grain was horizontal. Maybe it was the very tail end of a tenderloin, but certainly not a center cut you would call a filet mignon. On the bright side, we arrived early and sat in the bar waiting for our guests. The bar service was great.

My husband took me to the Black Angus for my birthday. We hadn’t been to the Black Angus for many years because they close the one down in Fresno but we ordered the dinner for two you can pick your own steak which we picked the filet mignon and we had it medium rare and it just melted in your mouth, we also ordered the appetizer which was the wagon wheel sampler. It was fabulous. We also had dessert and we ordered the mile high chocolate cake with the scoop of vanilla ice cream and some warm chocolate syrup. That’s the best steakhouse there is around if you get a chance please go check it out. We can’t wait to go back again

They were understaffed by a wide margin. Took 20 minuoto get our bevereges. The food took as while and the plates just kept adding up. We had to pile them up for the busser to grab. It was Easter and I totally get it can be busy but I have been coming here for over 20 years and it's the worst I have ever seen it. I felt really bad for the wait staff.

My friend and I were celebrating both of our birthdays at Black Angus for lunch. We decided to have the Campfire Feast - both had the filet mignon, loaded baked potato (she had the brussels sprouts, and I had the salad. A bottle of wine was half off! (I myself had an Angry Orchard). Our starter was the cheesy garlic bread (you can never go wrong with that!) And for our desert that was included we chose the Mudpie. And then, Robert, our amazing waiter brought out the Birthday Cowboy cookie with the ice cream to the side for each of us (he knew we were taking our cookies home). If you haven't tried this...omg! That entire meal for two (including the wine) was only $105 before tip. We did have to pay $5 each extra for the filet mignon and I believe the loaded baked potato was also a few extra dollars. Yes, we took leftovers home. In fact, I had enough for two more meals! So worth it and still so delicious. Robert, our waiter was very friendly and help. Helped my friend pick out the wine she wanted and gave us other suggestions while trying to select our meal options. He was very helpful. Black Angus is one of my favorite restaurants and they made our birthdays celebrations even more special!

Restaurant is always a great option for dinner. However I believe that our steaks we have ordered lately are not the same sizes as usually ordering is 16 oz. Last night both our steaks they grilled were 12 oz and definitely not 16 oz. The servers as usual were always charming. The bar section have tons of TV to watch different sports. Hostess' was very nice. We always reserve to have bar seats. When we get there we didn't wait too long to be seated even other guests waiting for tables for awhile and they are wake ins no reservations.

We had the sweetest server Olivia in the bar portion of the restaurant. We each had their steak and scampi special and it was incredibly delicious. We love eating here often!

The chicken on the wagon wheel was raw. The rib eye steaks were awful, mashed potatoes were bland and cold. The Caesar salad and bread were the two items that were decent. We made our server aware of the raw chicken, which she removed the $5 Up charge from our bill. I will never dine at Black Angus. I was disappointed with our meal, should have requested a refund. Our server was nice.

Service started ok but our server went on break - without telling us - then stood by the bar chatting while we waited for our wine and dessert to come out. 15 min later and I went to ask him what’s going on and he said he’s on forced break and can’t do anything but he’ll tell his replacement. 15 minutes more, nothing. Dessert finally comes out without an explanation or apology, the $150 bill gets dropped on the table, and never got so much as a water refill. Spectacularly bad service, I’ll never go there again.

Went there on a Tuesday after booking a 7pm reservation online. We got there at 6:30 and the hostess told us we can sit at the bar but to “let me know if you’re going to eat down there”. We sat at a table near the bar and it took 15 minutes for anyone to serve us. They put bread and butter down on the table shortly after this… with no knife. After ordering drinks I went back up to the front desk to check if they were going to text us when our table was ready and the hostess told us she’d cancelled our reservation, despite saying earlier to come up and let her know if we were going to be dining in the bar area. She then said she’d “make it right” and we’d get a text when our table was ready. After about 20 minutes I went back up the desk to check and no one was there. I waited until another server/host came to the front and he told us no reservation had been placed……….. we went to Texas Roadhouse instead after probably the worst service I’d ever had at a restaurant
