Service was disappointing probably because the waiter had too many tables to serve. Food was ok. We had the lamb ragú and pizza, wine was good as well.

I rarely post negative reviews, but this must be an exception. Our party of 12 flew up from So Cal for a birthday dinner. I planned the evening and was grateful to secure the reservation. We arrived at 7:10 for a 7:15 reservation, but the table was still being set up. Not a big deal. We were seated at 7:30, and at 7:35, the waiter greeted us, took our drink and appetizer orders, and asked someone to light the heaters. At 8:05, our appetizers arrived, but we still had no water, no drinks, and no heat. Our drinks finally arrived around 8:15, but many were watered down from sitting too long. Still, no heat. It was after 8:30 before our main order was taken, with more than 20 minutes passing between the drink order and any other contact from the restaurant. The heaters were finally lit sometime after 8:35. I asked for a manager three times, and she finally came around 8:40. She apologized for the delay with the drinks and heaters. Some of us had ordered bubbles to go with our carpaccio, which was amazing and already devoured. The manager kindly sent two more orders for us to pair, but the bubbles were too warm to fully enjoy. This experience, unfortunately, left much to be desired.

Our server was not friendly at all. He didn't talk to us about the menu and didn't explain anything. I felt like I was at a fast food restaurant. The food was fabulous! Delicious. The table next to us got a full presentation on the full menu and desert options as well. Our server didn't ask if we needed anything.

Our waiter was great. the rest of the staff were impolite and almost rude. could not reach anyone by phone and when finally did, absolute terrible customer service.

Always lovely, great waiter even though he was slammed. BEST dishes are the meatball appetizer and hankerchief pasta with pesto. Order and share - or don't! The rest of what we ordered was meh. The ambience and charm of our waiter made up for it.

We have eaten here several times over the last couple years, we live in Napa half the year, so we are very familiar with all of the restaurants, it is a nice place to bring out of towners. It’s certainly a very pretty setting if you eat outside. The server was, very friendly, but the wine recommendations were quite comical. I ordered a lamb shank, and the server recommended a Sauvignon Blanc… We are actually wine makers here in Napa, I wasn’t trying to test him, but I just wanted to see what wine he would recommend, the lamb shank was actually decently good, but the other 3 to 4 dishes we ordered were very average at best. Regardless, if you have a table facing the vineyards, it’s a pretty setting, one of the things that we don’t like about the ambience though is they have a serving staging area out on the patio and they have fake plastic foliage covering it up, which makes it look a bit unattractive. but again the server was nice, and the food came in a prompt manner.

The food and ambience are outstanding. I made reservations in advance for 11:30am, when they opened, and i was somewhat disappointed that we were seated on the periphery where my view was the highway and i could hear the cars going by...that early there was plenty of internal tables on the patio. I would request differently next time...the saving grace was our awesome server, Jackie!!

Amazing dinner with all of my friends, celebrating birthdays, and just being together. Don Giovanni is always such a great place with a great atmosphere and environment. The food is top-notch and the service is great! We will be back agaiin. Chow

We have always enjoyed Don Giovanni however this was somewhat disappointing for me. The other 3 dinners in my party were very pleased with the lamb and risotto special, my special was not what the waitress described. I was supposed to receive a variety of pasta with sausage and prawns, what I was served was pasta with muscles and clams. Pasta was very bland. Salt couldn't even liven up the flavor. I should have returned the dish but I did not want to embarrass or detain the rest of my party.

Visiting Napa for a private wine tasting tour it was no surprise that Bistro Don Giovanni was a must stop for lunch. The food, ambience, and service were all absolutely exemplary! The fried olives and pizza were exceptional. It’s no wonder that during one of the stops on our tour, the owners of the vineyard said it was their favorite place to eat in Napa. Celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary with a special tour and incredible lunch added to an already perfect day in wine country!!

Never disappoints - service was excellent even though the were very busy. Outdoor seating is larger and now pavers where it used to be gravel around the fountain (covid-glowup). Espresso Martinis, fabulous. Caesar family excellent with tastiest croutons. Waiter gave helpful recommendations. The crispy salmon was heavenly and so unique. Gluten free offerings. Boston trifle always delish. The wait staff were all very friendly, good personalities and charming.

We absolutely love everything about this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and wonderfully prepared. The service and ambiance are also amazing. All of these things combined, is what makes this one of our favorite go-to places.

we have been enjoying this place longer than I can remember, food is excellent!! service is always spot on. wine list has all the options you could expect, from local to across the pond there is something for ever budget. whenever we get around Napa, we find a reason to grab lunch or dinner here at least once during our trip.

Overall the ambiance was beautiful & the view of the vineyards was absolutely lovely. Service was a tad bit slow. Our appetizers hit the table before our drinks did and our bottle of champagne took even longer. As for the entrees the halibut dish lacked a lot of flavor and as did the veggies we also tried the chicken which we all thought was way to dry but the flavor was quite good. This was my first time back in a couple years but I think I’ll b back to give it another try on a less busy weekend!

We always have an enjoyable experience when we visit Bistro. The risotto was superb and the lemon raviolis are my wife’s favorite dish. The drinks were very good, but the manhattan my son order came in a very small glass. It took awhile on a busy Mother’s Day to get service, but once connected, we were ready to order, it all went smoothly. It remains our favorite restaurant in the valley.

Overall a great experience the food is outstanding would have preferred to sit outside but had to sit inside, even with a reservation felt like it did not matter. My wife was hungry so accepted to sit inside noise was an issue.

The menu has fundamentally not changed for many years. It does not matter to us. We return periodically because it is consistently excellent. A very nice and friendly neighborhood bistro. We feel at ease in a very comfortable and efficiently run place. And Giovanni cares,

The pastas are probably the best in Napa. Also excellent starters, especially the meatballs & polenta. Although the wine list is extensive, it is expensive. If you want a good wine, bring one and pay the $35 corkage.

I have been eating at Bistro Don Giovanni for years. However, our dinner yesterday was anything but up to their standard. We sat at our table 25 minutes before anyone greeted us. Our waiter was insulated that we wanted tap water. He was one of the worse waiters that I have had in a very long time. The salads and desserts were good but the mail courses were nothing special. The restaurant wasn’t very clean. Just junk everywhere. It didn’t have that special feel at all just a large industrial dining experience.

I keep trying to give this restaurant a chance the food is not bad, but the service is absolutely terrible every time, we waited an hour for our food that is beyond ridiculous

Food was good but pork chop was slightly undercooked. Branzino was good but was expecting whole fish like last time. Service was kind of slow but sitting outside was awesome. Caesar salad was awesome and so was the crème brûlée. Expect to spend over $150 for 2 people and that’s splitting salad and dessert.

We have been regulars here for many many years. DG has been a staple Italian restaurant in Napa because their food has been consistently excellent and the service is always great. Finally ate outdoors for the first time here and it’s beautiful! I also like it cause it’s relatively easy to get ressies or even as a walk in they can accommodate you pretty fast

Perfect evening! The Veal Parmesan was a delicious and generous. Octopus salad was fresh. Octopus was flavorful and tender. Butterscotch pudding is a must.

Absolutely love this place. Frequent patron … always great. Noticing prices edging up, and not so much octopus on the fantastic octopus salad lately. Not enough to deter future visits. Consistency great restaurant.

It s always very enjoyable to dine here. The service is impeccable, and the outdoor dining is very relaxing. The food is ... fine. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of the appetizers or mains that I have ordered there. They are quite flavorful and prepared very well. But this valley has a lot of competition for diners. I for one expect and seek out a little more "pop" in the offerings, a little more adventure in seasoning. However, if you have a group of people to entertain, or even a first date where you aren't sure of their likes, bring them here. Everyone will find something on the menu that pleases, and nothing that will put off a more timid gastronome.
