From North Station you can take the commuter rail on the Lowell Line outbound one (1) stop to West Medford. We are directly across Playstead Road from the train platform to the right of the bank. It is approximately 11 minutes from North Station.

Mothers Day brunch at Bistro 5 is my all-time favorite meal. The service is exceptional. The food is absolutely delicious. Portions are generous. So glad we were able to get reservations again this year!

Our friends introduced us to Bistro 5, and we keep coming back for creative dishes and inventive drinks. There's a cozy atmosphere to the place with tables surrounding the bar. Great for conversation.

We had a wonderful Mothers Day brunch at Bistro 5. The food was fantastic, service was friendly and very competent, and the ambience is warm and welcoming. The calamari appetizer was incredible. Perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. The roasted beet salad was earthy and delicious. The porcini "cappuccino" was a real surprise. Prepared as "soup and sandwich" it included a cup of yummy mushroom soup with a scoop of whipped porcini something, and a small taleggio grilled cheese that was absolutely fantastic. We all had the soft shell crab because... soft shell crab... and it was truly divine. Tender, sweet, perfectly prepared. We shared desserts - creme brulee, macedonia (fruit salad with a little scoop of passion fruit sorbet), and homemade donuts with dipping sauce. Wow. Everything was beautifully prepared, creative, balanced, just amazing. Thank you Bistro 5 for a Mothers Day brunch to remember!!

The manager chatted with us about the food and drink, and at the end gave us a taste of a sake he thought would go well with a dish we had ordered. Very welcoming, connecting human-to-human. Everything was delicious, but the special tuna in puff pastry with avocado and caviar was astoundingly good! If that was on the regular menu we'd want to come frequently. Attractive decor. It's a special-occasion restaurant, not cheap, but good value with excellent food for reasonable prices.
