Super expensive. Food had gone down hill, fatty steak, chicken way over cooked. Overall. Just not a great experience. Has become another tourist spot, ok food, nothing special.

This was the worst experience of my life. We were seated at 7:25 and by 8:30 our chef hadn’t shown up. This was just heartbroken, because I was celebrating my birthday and we had to leave without eating. Wasted an hour of our time and no one world say anything as to why we were waiting for so long. Never again am I going to this establishment.

The chef was really nice, seemed overworked…. And barely used any garlic butter. There was A LOT of black pepper on the food, it was hard to eat. We were a party of 4, so spending over $300 for straight black peppered food that tasted bland not a great experience.

We had a 630 reservation and we’re seated at 6:30 for an eight person table, the problem was we didn’t get our food till two hours later and being told constantly five more minutes 10 more minutes the waiter is picking the food on the tray now. Meanwhile we watch tables around us get served and eating while we’re still waiting

Seriously understaffed. Management wouldn’t even acknowledge the issue as gaslighted everyone who voiced their opinion. Been going here annually for years but will likely not return. Not worth it.

It took a very long time to get served. Looked like one foodd server for the entire place. 15 minutes for drinks and then then 12 minutes for soup. Way too long. The whole table was joking about ever getting to eat. The food was great sent eh cooking show was good too. Most enjoyable. Lunch pricing seems fair and it is more than enough to eat.

We had a reservation at 7:15. Waited almost an hour to be seated. Didn not get our food until after 9:30. Our chef Izack was wonderful as well as our waiter but we they are completely understaffed.

Benihana is my favorite restaurant for a great lunch or dinner. Today, it was lunch. The chef was very conversant (Kyle) and funny, which makes the "show" so much more fun. Two people got the filet mignon and it was exception. I had habachi chicken which is always excellent, as it was today. You cannot go wrong eating at Benihana San Diego!

Scallops and steak were very overcooked. The walk ways are very narrow and could be more wheel chair friendly. When making the reservation I requested a wheel chair friend seat. Instead they placed us in the furthest back corner disturbed everyone but requiring everyone to have to move . Parking is very limited forcing you to pay $8 for valet. Valet isnt very helpful either .

I’ve always loved hibachi since I was a kid and wanted to take my son on Mother’s Day for basically a meal with a show. The chefs are so talented and engaging with their “cooking performances” and all the jokes and one liners made it so much fun. The food was absolutely delicious!

At first when I walked in for my reservation they told me they were 30 min behind schedule. I then ordered a drink at the bar area and that took 30 minutes for 2 drinks. As we finally sat down at the main hibachi grill The food was burnt and they gave my order to another person at the table.

our reservation was for 8pm they said they were running 30-40 mins behind was finally seated at 9:05 pm, then they brought us water and waited another 15 mins before they came over and got our drink order. Even after complaining to management the very unfriendly lady with a pony tail in her hair just shrugged and said well, we are busy. They forgot to bring us the salad and finally remember 1/2 way through our meal. The only reason she remembered was we finally said something to her when she finally made an appearance. Unfortunately it was my MIL first time there and I wish she had a better experience. Did I also mention the Valet was full when we showed up at 7:30pm and no parking. Overall horrible experience!

Sigh, what happened to this place? I used to look forward to my birthday coupon, we'd get a big group of friends together and go and enjoy. Pretty sure this visit will be my last. Arrived a bit early to my reservation time, we weren't seated until 45 minutes after that reservation, and then it took another 45 minutes from that for the food to hit the grill. For some reason, the people who ordered white rice got it like 20 minutes later than the fried rice, so they were already halfway through their meals. The food is at the very least still tasty but it's definitely not worth the hassle anymore.

This was a give it another chance after a horrible experience prior. Wow what a negative/ difference - the prices have gone up quite a bit especially cocktails /positive our waiter amazing our chef great! The food cooked to perfection. I almost thought I was at a different restaurant😉

Seated 20 minutes after our reservation time. Plates and bowls had food stuck on them. Grill and table were dirty. Tons of food all over the floor. Waiter was friendly and chef was good. Everyone at the table was coughing due to all the smoke. Exhaust fan didn’t seem to be working. Food tasted ok.

The dining experience was great as always. However, the check-in process was very frustrating. I had made a reservation for 530p and we weren't even seated until 6p. We arrived close to 520p, checked in once. Then, about 10-15 later the same person who checked us in asked if we had checked in yet. So we had to check in a second time. For a 530p, we didn't even have food to eat until about 630p. It's not a very smooth process from checking in to sitting down and ordering your meal.

Problem with our bill. Called the restaurant, host said the manager was in a “meeting”, so they took down my info and was told I would be getting a call back. I never heard back of course! such GREAT! customer service.

I was really disappointed with the overcooked food and service. Our cook almost hurt a kid at our table who was celebrating his birthday when the fork he was flipping flew out of his hand.

The hostess was rude. The table is never ready when you get there even with a reservation. Our reservation was for 6:45. After waiting on the table and then waiting at the table for a chef, we didn’t have one cooking for us until 830. I understand if you’re short staffed, that means you don’t open all of the tables in the restaurant and have people seated and waiting for two hours. Waitress made several mistakes, including forgetting to notify the chef about a food allergy. Overall, I was not impressed with this experience.

Really dissapointing. Started off with the sweetest and most beautiful smiling lady to greet us and take us back, but one of the parties guest wasn't there. They always ask if everyone is there...for what. The woman had already been drinking and was inappropriate at the table and bc her guest wasn't there, she bothered everyone else, including the chef. I was brought a strawberry margarita with a salt rim. 🙄 the waiter looked at me like that would be normal. Thenwe sat for 30 min before the chef came and then, whatever happened, there wasn't enough food brought so he had to make rice while he should've been making entrees. Then, I was charged for 2 extra ice cream when I ordered 2 adult meals, one kida meal and a chicken fried rice for our 4th person. I've dined when 2 of the 4 of us had only fried rice and never been charged for ice cream, but even if, doesn't each meal come with one? Wouldn't it have been one ice cream. I'm pretty disappointed. We went to benihana like 4 times in the last 4 months.

Been going to Bennihanas for over 40 years. Great food, but lately last 3 times service is very slow, they don’t check on you. Also the servers make you feel like you’re a burden when requesting anything. Mind you, we went when it was not very busy. Usually around 7pm weekdays.
