Our server, Watson, was so friendly and super knowledgeable about both the menu and Milwaukee history (which was perfect, since I was entertaining my business partner and it was her first visit). With a seat by the window facing the lake, there was no better way to show off Milwaukee's food, service and friendliness.

Overall a mixed experience. The interior is lovely and the lighting makes for a nice atmosphere. No waiting with a reservation. Waitstaff is friendly and welcoming. The food is surprisingly just OK to me (I have travelled throughout France and eaten at a few Michelin starred restaurants, as well as wonderful hole-in-the-wall cafes). So I really focus on the bottom line: how does the food taste? Our table had scallops appetizer, halibut (a bit overcooked), French onion soup (ok), salad, and coq au vin (ok not stellar). Star of the food show: the sole (nice but very expensive), and the desserts. Sorbet was divine and apple cake was wonderful. Went on Saturday night in June. Very packed, noisy and waitstaff overwhelmed. Will try again on a less crazy night to see if other dishes live up to the accolades associated with the chefs.

I love the salad de laitue. My dining partner loved the french onion soup. I had the coq au vin and it was fabulous, easily the best coq au vin I have ever had. I had a 1/2 chicken with whipped potatoes, mushrooms, carrots and pearl onions. My partner had the tapenade de salmon and thought it was wonderful. It also came with whipped potatoes and broccoli rabe. There haricots vests were also excellent. The wines were excellent as well. We tried 2 different red wines and liked both. The french bread is fantastic. We had a lovely flourless chocolate cake which was also excellent. The coffee is great although not real hot. Service was very attentive. We had an excellent birthday celebration.

What’s not to love? The setting is spectacular. The service is fantastic and the food? Best scallops I’ve ever had! Maddie and Anna were a joy! Professional, prepared and very friendly.

My mom was visiting from out of town, and I brought her here on our girls’ weekend. We had the most excellent brunch! Our server Ellen was attentive & sweet. The environment was quiet since we were the first reservation of the morning. I’ll definitely come back for brunch again!
