Inauguré en novembre 2010 et situé au cœur du quartier de Hillcrest, le bistrot Au Revoir est le dernier restaurant de la famille Mastellone a avoir ouvert ses portes après l'Arrivederci, l'Il Postino, le Buon Appetito, etc etc). Ce bistrot parisien français typique, est doté d'une ambiance décontractée et d'une atmosphère qui vous transporte directement au sommet de la Tour Eiffel. Sa cuisine française maison est élaborée à base de produits bon marché, d'une dose de tradition, d'une once de cuisine française moderne inspirée de différentes régions et d'une grosse pincée d'amour prodiguée par notre chef Dédé et son équipe. Parmi les spécialités de la maison figurent les « les escargots », « la soupe à l'oignon », « le bœuf bourguignon », « le coq au vin» » et « les cuisses de grenouilles »...Et voilà !

Food and service here have always been good, but prices have certainly crept up - as with many places. Check them out on Tuesdays for a prefix special.

Love Au Revoir for its consistently delicious food and wonderful service. The ambience is intimate, cute, and oh so French. The mussels and lavender fries are so yummy. Salads are ample and delish, esp the incredible duck salad. Specials are always a hit. Nice wine selection. This is our local go-to spot when we want a guaranteed great dinner with quiet, cozy ambiance. Great spot to bring guests. They’ll love it.

This restaurant never bothered to call and tell us they were closing early and we had reservations! They waited till we showed up (I drive nearly two hours to get there) and told us they wouldn’t honor our reservation because it was too slow. Shame on them! Will never go back!

Just another delightful Saturday lunch: mussels for me, the beet salad and frites for my wife. Two nice glasses of Vouvray. This is cheaper than flying to France for a bistro experience and every bit as nice. One of our favorite places. The bread is always a treat. Prices are super reasonable.

I would not patronize this restaurant again. The website looked delicious, but the food was sub par. Seabass was tough and tasted like chicken. Risotto not good and beet salad was average and didn’t bother to finish it. Entire restaurant seemed dirty and the bathroom floors were sticky and disgusting. Felt like I was in TJ not France

We just moved to the area from North Park / City Heights and decided to try this spot. We are frequent diners at Et Voila and Wormwood and based on Au Revoirs reviews, I expected to have at least a similar experience with this place. Needless to say, it wasn’t what I had hoped for and unfortunately I will not be dining here again. There were a few good points to the experience but overall I would rather pay an $8 Uber to take me to one of the places that have never let me down.

I would have given five stars across-the-board if not for one issue. They are understaffed. The waiter was much too busy for the number of tables he had, and while we definitely don’t mind waiting, my mother started having a bad coughing attack, and he still hadn’t brought any water to the table after 20 minutes. I went to the bar to ask for water because she was having a hard time, and he didn’t listen to me, he just kept saying “in a minute, in a minute” when I insisted I just needed a water quickly for her. I had to rush across the street to get some water for her. Eventually he brought over our beverages, but not a water for her. That being said, the food was delicious, and definitely worth the value . They just need some help.

This is our go to bistro when we can't get to France. Yesterday we had some lovely mussels and a reasonably priced Sancerre. A quiet Sunday lunch.

I went in with high hopes as the menu looked amazing. I was a little underwhelmed. We started with the shared plate of apple/brie/puff pastry with arugula. I thought it would be like a baked Brie but it was like a flatbread on pastry. With toppings. They were out of arugula so added mixed greens. Definitely not the same. Also had the crepe californien and the crepe seemed doughy.

It was ok. The duck was dry, and steak was over cooked compared to what was ordered - unexpected at this price point. Portions were generous though and the service was good.

Food was overpriced for the quality of food. The mushroom soup was extremely chunky and not puréed. Sauce on the filet mignon ruined the flavor of the steak because there were too many large pieces of what tasted like tarragon; it was overpowering. The crème brûlée had Grand Marnier in it and it was all you could taste, which also didn’t have a hint of vanilla bean in it. I’ve been coming to this restaurant since 2015, and since then this restaurant has slowly been declining as it removes some of my favorite dishes from the menu entirely. Try Bleu Bohème off of Adams Ave. instead.

We made reservations online for 2:30 p m When we arrived on time, the waiter told us. The kitchen is closing at 2:30. Why would we be allowed to reserve a table for 230 when they wouldn't even serve us And turn us away at the door. We will not be returning.

Wonderful cafe atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Try the Truite Meunière if you like fish—wonderful! The Scallops Au Gratin were also outstanding! 👍👍

One of our favorite restaurants, but this time, I was very disappointed in my brunch selection - the Croque Madame. The bread was simply white bread, not toasted or grilled in any way. Very dry and unexciting

I travel to San Diego for work. I found this cute place on Open Table. The reviews were great so I decided to give it a shot. It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was perfect as soon as I step inside. The restaurant was nicely decorated and quite quaint, however, I left unimpressed. I order poultry farci and the chicken was raw inside. After alerting the server, he brought it back to the kitchen. The server never apologize or offered for me to select some thing else. I watched the kitchen staff just out the entire dish in the oven. I order a second glass of wine, didn’t finish the meal and left. I had such high hopes.

Tuesday night special is a must - try. They have a 3 course special. Had it twice and they are consistent and we will go again.

Wonderful French bistro with the usual faire. I especially like their bistro salad. The dressing is very lite and sweet with candied pears, walnuts and blue cheese crumbles. And the pricing is very reasonable.

I love this restaurant so much but something was off on this night. Different chef maybe? We will definitely go back but the chicken with mushrooms was tough — must’ve been an off night.

The food is excellent as always. My issue is open table has the Tuesday special at $25 the restaurant website has it at $30 and when at the restaurant it was $45 :( also the menu on both are different than what they offered so I couldn’t get exactly what I had in mind before arriving.

The rack of lamb was worth a detour, as the Michelin guide would put it. Even more so, our friendly server who singlehandedly was in control of the whole restaurant, and yet had time to chat with the customers,

This restaurant called me to cancel a reservation I had made 3 weeks ago, for Valentine's day. Blaming the lack of professionalism and decorum on the "person" who took the reservation over the phone. Zero accountability and terrible decision.

When we arrived for our 7pm reservation, we were greeted promptly and given our choice of tables (the restaurant was very busy at the time, but filled up soon after). Our server was attentive, but not intrusive. We started with some shared apps: Escagot and calimari. The escargot was delicious with just the right balance of garlic and herbs, but the calimari was the real stand-out: Not over-battered and perfectly prepared to the perfect consistency (not too chewy as if often the case). We ordered the Poulet farci aux Chamipignons and the Boeuf Bourguignon: The chicken was incredibly tendre and the mushroom sauce perfectly paired with the golden fingerling potatoes as well. The beef was nearly melt-in-your mouth and not overwhelmed by the Bourguignon sauce. For dessert, we shared the chocolate mousse... The perfect end to a delicious meal.

A hole in the wall located in strip mall with parking. In general a very basic Bistro with a poor wine list...I had a glass of Red wine, and it was delivered at above room temperature, like it sat out in the sun before it was poured. The lighting is poor... The food hit and miss...We started with French Onion Soup, Ceaser Salad & Mussels which were all delicious. The mussels were amazing. Main course was Ravioli which my daughter loved, and I had the Filet w/Scallops which were good but not as good as I had hoped, mostly because of the poorly prepared Peppercorn sauce. Lavender fries were very good with just a hint of Lavender...Au Revoir has potential to be much better than what we experienced...Pricing was very reasonable.
