Nice ambience, nice service, poor food for a Greek restaurant. Fried Kalamari was terrible, the mousaka plate was greasy, served in a pot-like plate, that was more like greasy mousaka pie. There are better Greek restaurants in Chicago, the food in this one was terrible

I used to love this restaurant. Great service and reasonably priced. Now it’s off the list. Prices are exorbitant! $21 for chewy and small portion of calamari?! I’m overpriced kebabs for chicken having 4oz of meet at $21?! For 3 people with a couple beers each bill was over $200!!! Good riddance.

We went for dinner on Mother’s Day. It was not that busy. We were sat in a corner inside. Our server came to ask about drinks, said he would give us a minute then did not come back for 45 minutes. We had to ask twice for bread and more water. They had a limited menu due to it being Mother’s Day. The saganaki was barely cooked and hardly flambéed at the table. The braised lamb was so tough. It was at least 40 min between our appetizers and our entrees. Our server never checked on us. We had to go find him for the check. When he ran our credit cards, he brought back the incorrect card for my sister and it took him another 15 minutes to come back with the correct card.

Athena is the BEST patio in Greektown. The perfect summer experience, it’s beautifully & thoughtfully designed from decor to layout. The retractable roof doubles their patio space and creates a perfect indoor-outdoor medium so your dining experience is comfortable. There’s plenty of room and they don’t cram tables together to fit more diners. This doesn’t even touch the food! Always delicious and decent portions. The avgolemano soup is fabulous; also recommend the stuffed chicken, exohiko, and saganaki! Drinks are refreshing & consistent. Mother’s Day was low-key & super enjoyable with no prefix menu.

Service was terrific. Martinis were well made. I had delicious lamb chops and rice, and another had the lamb shank with a lemon sauce that was unusual and very tasty. Our server said there was a new chef and it shows. The bar is very large and a good option to sit and eat there. The atrium area was a little chilly but a nice space.

The food is not as good as it used to be. The lamb chops were bland, and the rice and potato had no flavor. I will not return to this restaurant. It used to be one of my favorites. Very disappointed! My mom chicken skewers were also very bland with no flavor.

The food was great (as always) our server was great, but we were seated in the side room with fluorescent lighting. When asked if we could be seated in one of the many empty tables in the main dining room, the waitress was less than accommodating and borderline rude - thus the 4 stars.

We have been here several time. Food is great and the service is quick and attentive. Only downside is when the windows and skylights are closed in bad weather it is very loud. But we go for the food and wine, which is what will bring us back.

Returned to Athena for the first time in quite some time. It really is a terrific Greek destination. Lunch was terrific, especially nice in the bright, airy space on a sunny spring day. You could stay all day. Reminded me of lunch in Greece (or Spain or Italy)--unhurried, relaxing, indulgent.

Treating out-of-town friends to a classic Greek dinner that was great in every respect. The son of my guest will be attending Rush Medical School and he will remember his first meal in Chicago thanks to Athena’s .

A great dining experience, wonderful service, good food, reasonable price, cheery atmosphere and love the complimentary valet parking. We were with people we had not seen in a long time and we felt comfortable lingering as long as we wanted. Thank you and we will definitely return.

Athena is our go-to Greek Restaurant. I'd say it's our go-to restaurant period. Valet parking is quite desirable in busy, crowded Chicago. Service is exceptional and we're greeted warmly by everyone as we walk in. Reservations were perfect. However, we were surrounded by too very loud groups and it was difficult to carry on a conversation but they put us right next to the fireplace which was very comfortable especially since it was a blustery night. Our waiter, Sam, was accommodating and had a great sense of humor. Our out-of-town guests were extremely impressed. Not a bad compliment from folks who live in New York. We will always recommend this location and love dining especially when the patio is open!

The food was disappointing. The Greek salads were a good size and the feta cheese chunk was generous. However, the dressing was overdone with too much oil. The gyro was dry and sliced so thin is was leathery. The baklava was soggy and had a lot of cinnamon. Service was okay. Had to ask for water refills. Wouldn’t go back.

We tried this restaurant for the first time last night. It was terrific! My husband and I shared saganaki (it was complementary, as it is restaurant week), spanikopitakia, greens beans, Pastitio entree, and baklava and galatopouriko for desserts. Delicious.

The best kabobs on Halsted Street-complete with rice and potato! Beautiful airy setting. Service was impeccable-friendly and responsive but not hovering. Love the free valet as well.
