Ordered 5 course menu preceded by a cocktail. We still haven’t finished the cocktail and they started to serve the various courses. Ambience was hectic and it was noisy so no calm conversation was possible. Food and wine were excellent. For a 2Star Michelin restaurant the service needs significant improvement.

Incredible dining experience with uniquely curated food and non-alcoholic beverages that were well paired with each dish. Service was friendly and our overall experience was great for our date. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for quality food.

This was planned to be a landmark, special occasion meal. It’s surpassed anything we expected. The atmosphere is calm without being cold and service allowed you to focus on the person you were dining with. We had the Chef’s tasting menu. Every dish was beyond what was expected. Yes, on some items the dish may have a look small, but it was a perfect fit within the overall meal and menu. It was a satisfying meal that was ended with an amazing dessert. It is easy to see why the waiter said the Arctic birds nest played a big part in earning those Michelin stars.

If you haven’t been here, go. The food in the bar room is splendid, the service is superb, and it’s a lovely quiet room. The cauliflower soup, the kale and beets, the cod, the meatballs much more special than one would expect, and the princess cake and cheeses make for wonderful meals. The small room is a hidden midtown treat and Chef Emma Bengtsson is never without a subtle delicious surprise.

We had the chef’s tasting menu in the main dining room. It changes seasonally and this one was extraordinary. We’re mystified by reviewers who think this is just “good.” Any Swede will tell you this is what they pray for, and get, in Stockholm. Every course is inventive. The flavors taste as if you’ve never tasted them before. (A caution: check the menu. If you don’t like fish this might not be the place for you.) You wouldn’t want to do this every night. They have the bar room for that. But every two months or so this is a gift from a brilliant chef and from a restaurant that has only one thing on its mind: a great experience of food in every way. They’re not busy building a brand like places where the chef is more of an industry than a chef. Those places are often fine. And Aquavit is mountains above them. Expensive? Yes. Indulgent? Certainly. And an unmatchable experience of modern Swedish cooking. The service is friendly, charming, perfectly timed, and never invasive. Really, it’s this simple: these folks know what they’re doing. “Fine dining” doesn’t get better than this. Two Michelin stars feels like an understatement.

We ate in the main dining room. The food was just okay. We did enjoy the wine paring. We weren’t wowed by any course, and actually didn’t like one. Can’t believe that the restaurant has two Michelin stars. Far too many exemplary restaurants in NYC, and this isn’t one of them. Go somewhere else!

Aquavit did not disappoint totally lived up to its Michelin 2 star rating. The food and service were outstanding and the staff very knowledgeable on the food and wine. Will be dining here again

Expensive, but very good Great service. My 15 yr old daughter loved the beets. Swedish meatballs were excellent. So was the soup.

Fantastic food and service! We had the Chef’s Tasting Menu, including lobster, caviar, scallops, duck, and bass. All food was beautifully presented, like small pieces of art! Will definitely be back!

Not exactly sure why this restaurant has two Michelin stars. Our lunch was certainly very good but nothing was particularly outstanding or inventive. Nonetheless if you wish to have a Scandinavian meal this is your best bet in NYC.

Most disappointing meal I’ve had in a long time. Cold shrimp on soggy toast. Tough dried out duck confit. IKEA meatballs and mashed potatoes finished with a stale cookie. Really Michelin? They did make a great martini

We had the chef’s tasting and it was delicious. The host and our waiter were phenomenal. The only negative/souring experience of the evening was with the sommelier. We asked to speak with the sommelier so that we could get a recommendation for a bottle of wine. She was extremely rude and stuck up. She asked us what we liked (and I will admit I am no wine expert - that’s why we asked for her recommendations!). However, she was very condescending and, sadly, was a disappointing start to my birthday dinner.

Aquavit lived up to its Michelin Stars. The courses were of exquisite design and delicious. The wine list was incredible with depth and breadth in every category. We had a German white wine to compliment the mostly fish courses which worked well. Pairings are also available. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Highly recommended.

Tried the tasting menu as it was the only option – unexpected for a high-end venue. The food was mediocre. The restaurant was half empty; it actually felt a bit deserted, with very bright light. Good service, but not worth the high price. Overall, the experience didn't justify the price. I won't recommend or return:(

Wow truly amazing. Usually with menus like this there’s at least 1 item that doesn’t totally blow me away but not here. Every bite new and interesting. The way all the vegetables really shined through was so fun and so different. Even my sweet hating friends ate every bite of the desserts. And I can’t forget the service! Everyone was so kind and so helpful with excellent drink choices. Just entirely amazing.

Very professional and cordial staff and service. Was a quiet night and we sat in the bar as we were not doing the Tasting Menu. Had Swedish meatballs and they were excellent.

Every dish was very good. We especially like the Norwegian King Crab and Corn dish. The crab was cooked perfectly. The Arctic Bird's Nest was a great end to a wonderful meal and evening. It's pricey but worth it for those special occasions.

Delicious! Very uncrowded on an August Thursday, which enabled conversation with servers, who are terrific. Food--each dish utterly distinctive and memorable. Can I describe? Not really. The 5-course menu is quite adequate, even for bigger eaters like us. Do try one or another, or a couple, of the aquavits, esp the ones with dill. We did not do the wine accompaniments (too many), but did our own more limited wine selection, which worked well (the wine prices are NOT over the top). What a lovely experience.

The bar food is amazing (and a work of art). They use the best of ingredients. Very attentive service. Our waiter went above and beyond to give us a list of where we could buy Aquavit in NYC to have at home. Best of all is the 3-glass Aquavit tasting with the 3 samples of herring. Love the smoke cultured butter. This is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Don't miss it.

Great seven course tasting menu. Only one dish out of the seven did not wow. The wine pairing was also excellent with only one pairing not hitting the right note with the food item. The pricing for the wine pairing should’ve been noted on the menu. Service was good but I would suggest that the servers slow down when introducing the plate being served and speak up a bit more as it was hard to understand what they were saying. Overall a great dinner and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Every time I dine here a new memory is created and a new favorite dish is experienced. How rare is a restaurant where the appetizers, main courses and dessert are equal in their presentation, flavor profile and taste? The Arctic Char is pure magic and the Princess Cake is a traditional triumph! Simplicity and modern beauty surrounds you in the dining room while you dine on one of the best meals in NYC. The staff is dedicated, kind and so knowledgeable. Chef Emma Bengtsson has created a menu that celebrates the food, without ego attached, showcasing her heritage and pure love of food. Perhaps the third rendition of this restaurant and what a dramatic disappointment in all senses: the new decor lost the original Nordic chic, the service is sugary but lacks a professional delicacy to it, and the menu - definitely miss the a la carte. The new 5 and 7 course are ordinary, and if you picked the 5 course menu, the server made multiple attempts to up-sell caviar or lobster or something else, pretty distasteful after a while. The food itself failed to wow compared to other Michelin star restaurants here in NY or around the world. No specific dish stood out, not the design nor the flavor. $600 lesson for two.
