We have enjoyed this lovely restaurant for years. Covid and life kept us away. We missed it and decided to come back. The hostess there was not very welcoming. We had reservations for 7p for outside seating. She flat look at us and said..we'll you can sit inside or the side table. We were ready to leave and the manager had to come to the rescue. There were tables available. Not the best first impression upon a long awaited return. Our server was excellent. Attentive and patient with great food and drink suggestions. The mussels and the fries were delicious. The steak didn't taste as fresh as before. Tasted as if it had been on ice too long. We will probably go again just to test our suspicion. Hopefully, we will have the 5-Star experience that they were known for before Covid.

The ambience at dinner last night was excellent as always. While the service was not quite as quick and attentive as we have come to expect, there was nothing specifically wrong. However, we were very disappointed with the food. In particular, we ordered a full serving of mussels after debating whether we wanted to have a half serving or a full serving. When they delivered it, we saw that it was so small a serving that we assumed they had misunderstood and brought us a half serving of mussels. And when we asked the server, he told us that that actually it was a full serving of mussels. We also asked for the toast that we usually get served with mussels anywhere we go. People always like to dip toast or bread into the delicious sauce. And the server told us that it didn’t come with bread or toast, but we could order a basket of bread if we chose to —for an additional cost of course. We eat at least half dozen times a year at Anis and have always enjoyed it. But it really seems as if someone has made a decision to pad margins by cutting food costs. As anyone who understands the restaurant business knows, actual food cost are a quite small percentage of the overall cost of managing the restaurant. Shortchanging diners on the quantity of foods delivered or the items that accompany the foods is not a good way to maintain customers. We’re afraid that next they’ll start charging extra for ketchup if we order fries!

There is no lovelier setting on a warm evening than the patio at Anis. The food was excellent, the server was attentive and knowledgeable and the ambiance was lively but not hectic even though the restaurant was full. Love this place!

Our favorite French Bistro! . We dine here often! The salmon and Roquefort risotto is the best and so are the mussels and French fries. My husband had the confit de canard this visit and he said the duck fell off the bone. We are looking forward to our visit next month.

we love Anis Cafe & Bistro but the last few times their food quality was below average, and the servers were not trained well. I hope the management will listen to the criticisms and perfect them again! Sam Medici

Love this cozy restaurant tucked away on a quiet street. This spot has been around for many years and it never fails to be an enjoyable place to catch up with friends on the patio. The food is great and the menu has something for everyone.

Great food & service!! it was loud as hell with one big loud party in the outside area and three guys in the main dining room and they were loud and obnoxious. But the food and our server outstanding. You need some Carpet or you need to put something on the ceiling to dampen the sound. MERCY! I would come more often if they had comfortable chairs. The café chairs are extremely uncomfortable. The poster chairs in the indoor seating are too short for the size table. Overall, I had a good time. But I prefer Houston’s because I don’t have to deal with all these issues.
