From the moment we arrived the host came across abrupt. We were shown into the dinning area which had no other guests or atmosphere. The menu was very limited and the service very stale. Even the wine list was limited and well over priced. Our expectation was to receive finely local ingredients, that was cooked well and presented for they were charging. However, the small plates and bowls lacked imagination and taste. The main course was unacceptable and returned to the kitchen. As a local resident of Edinburgh will certainly not return or recommend. Hopefully they will survive on the tourist revenue that are unaware of quality Scottish Cuisine at a reasonable price.

First time here in a few years, and was sadly disappointed. The restaurant now has a small, medium and large plate approach to dining and I’m afraid it feels a bit mixed up; a far cry from the finer dining experience I’ve had there in the past. One chicken dish (when it finally arrived!) was swimming in greasy crumbs, not pleasant at all. We had a white Rioja which was nice and reasonably priced, but could have been chilled more. I’m a local, and it felt quite touristy here. The service was average, not very friendly and quite slow. Not much atmosphere. Overall, distinctly mediocre.

First night in Edinburgh. Walked from voco IHG hotel. Had resv. Was seated immediately. Intimate place with about 25 tables. Great service. Exceptional tapas. Accomo. A tomato/peppers intolerance easily without fuss. Allowed us to rethink ordering dessert when we were too full of tapas. Everything we ordered was top notch. We are foodies. This place was a real find.

This was a really lovely place, only issue would be the sharing plates were exceptionally small. I understand sharing plates are small, however, these could not be split by more than two people, if you want more than a minimal single bite. I would have appreciated if the server said these split by two maximum so you will need a few plates. In terms of food quality that was gorgeous and the atmosphere was very good.

We were seated in the rear of the restaurant which had a nice atmosphere. Service was very good, servers were knowledgeable on the menu and they checked for any allergies. The Haggis bon bons were lovely and the right amount of spice. Caesar salad was good, all fresh ingredients although as a personal choice I prefer shave parmesan rather than thin gratings. The crab was a little on the small side but extremely tasty The sea trout was the highlight of the meal, superb quality, perfectly cooked. The wines were a tad expensive but great quality. Overall a very positive experience.

This restaurant was a great find! In plain sight on the Royal Mile it provides a unique Scottish dining experience for the visitor. Our server was attentive and friendly, and while food choices are minimal they are all tempting and delicious. Wine and cocktail selections are top notch as well. We looked out into a lovely courtyard from our seats. Would highly recommend for a delightful fine dining evening out!

Fantastic flavors in the dishes we ordered, we thought the chicken dish was phenomenal. Would recommend booking a table in advance as it is truly an intimate setting. We are ranking this as our top dining experience during our 41 day tour of Great Britain. Kudos to the Chef, please come cook for us in Charleston, SC.

A true gem in Edinburgh on the Royal Mile! Best meal we've had since last week in Paris at George V in the Four Seasons. Oysters and haggis bon bons starters with a little Tattingers were wonderful! Best Caesar salad WITH anchovies we've had in years. Had the sea trout, mussels and fennel entree which was truly superb, paired with a nice French Viognier. Wonderful friendly service staff too. Reservations are essential as the restaurant is small. 12.5% service charge as more UK restaurants are doing, but totally worth it. 5 Star experience for us!
