It’s definitely an experience. The downside for us was that we had reservations and were seated at literally the farthest table in the back. Fthe cost, we felt it wasn’t worth it largely because of where we were seated. The rest was OK. Yes, expensive, but as I said, an experience.

Best Filet ever. Service from Sharon was great. She even got us a Hot Fudge Sundae from the Copper Cafe. We will definitely be back next time we are in SLO.

It's one of the best ribeye steaks I have ever eaten. The Smokey flavor was excellent! My wife's filet was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was great, and we loved listening to the band and seeing couples dance on the dance floor.

Waitress very nice. Host wouldn’t seat me in the restaurant until guests arrived even though restaurant was mostly empty and after discussing my reservation for a round booth put me in a connected roundish booth. Also, tables were set for two, and they had to add the third setting which in a nice, expensive restaurant is a bit tacky. Food good.

So so good, splurged on the filet & half lobster tail… skip the lobster tail, the filet dinner is perfect without it!

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner. It was our time dining at the steakhouse and it was an excellent experience. The staff was amazing and very friendly. Our server, Jamie, was so helpful and even took some photos of my husband and I with a polaroid we brought. The food was perfectly cooked and the cake was better than I imagined. We can't wait to go back.

Amazing place in terms of the experience, the decor, etc. and the service was great, but the food was really bad. The fish was overcooked, rubbery and overcooked. The pasta was so drenched in sauce that it was nearly inedible. You are definitely paying for the experience and not the food quality. I would eat somewhere else and maybe stop here for drinks or dessert.

From the time we were seated we were rushed. The kitchen was closing so we had to order. The bakery was closing so we had to order cake as soon as our food came. The hostess wants to close out so we had to pay when our cake arrived. The busser was hovering taking each so we had to box our cake. It was as if we asked for a table at the last minute, but we had a 9:30pm reservation. Please block 9:30pm reservations unless you are willing to provide the same service as a 5:30om reservation. No one wants to feel like the restaurant is doing them a “favor” when spending $50 for halibut.

What a beautiful setting! Absolutely stunning venue! Service was great too! Even catered for the children’s fussy needs. Absolutely loved the pink champagne cake!

Steak House is quite expensive. The entire property has the feeling of being old, nostalgic, and passed by. We went there to have the famous Toffee Crunch Cake for dessert--it was delicious! We asked the bakery to keep three pieces of the cake for us in their refrigerator, after we paid for it, so we could have it after dinner--we were refused. We had to take the pieces with us to dinner--ridiculous! The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. One person in our party ordered the avocado toast--the Romesco sauce on the bread was so spicy she couldn't eat it. She did not want me to send it back. The prime rib was cooked to specs, but was not warm. The overall experience was a disappointment. We will not return for another meal there.

Absolutely great. Great food great service and live music. Only problem was they ran out of Pink Champagne cake!! But we didn’t have room for it anyway after our giant ribeye. Thanks Madonna!

We live locally and Alex Madonna’s Steak House is one of our special occasion go-to’s. It’s campy and their celebration of central coast 1950s “glamor” is so comforting and fun. The steaks are the best. Love their old school ways. Going on a night when the swing band is playing in the ballroom is really fun (you can see it from certain tables in the dining room as it’s not separated by a wall). We see all levels of dress there but we like to make it special and dress up a little.

Food was amazing!!! My father and step mother split the salmon and salad. My wife and I split the pasta with chicken.....the beginning bread was fantastic. The amount of food is just incredible that is why we both split plates....then for desert to go we got A PIECE of the German chocolate cake and was able to split in 4 pieces....again just HUGE!!!! The service from Jamie was great. My parents had never been here before so we took the for a walking tour of all the shops.....just very cool place.

Food was great...nice to see relish tray still there...most do not have that style. Chicken was outstanding, filet the same and the cake...speaks for itself...we will come here for all our anniversaries! We were in the Madonna Suit for the first night of our honeymoon 20 years ago...such a great place to stay!

My wife and I had a fantastic dining experience at the Gold Rush Steakhouse. It was a genuine treat. We were welcomed by the host and seated promptly despite how busy it was. Our server Sharon was great and Jose of the bus staff was on top of his game. He was efficient and attentive without being intrusive. Our food was well prepared, well presented, and very tasty. Our portions were huge, so we had leftovers to enjoy later. It was truly a five star experience.

First time attending. A bit disappointing with food options. Higher price and carving station would be great. Biscuits hard, bacon undercooked. Potatoes weren't breakfast potatoes. Omelet station was GREAT. Add bottomless mimosas for a flat price. Just a few thoughts:-) Love this place!

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service. My halibut was delicious, and my husband’s pork chop was well prepared. Our meals came with bread, soup or salad, potatoes or rice and vegetables. The beer and wine charges were not extravagant. We were celebrating my birthday and the waiter presented us with a huge slice of pink champagne cake. It was delicious! We definitely enjoyed our meal.

We arrived 30 min early for our reservation knowing we wanted to see more of the property, and we were seated 15 minutes early. Service was excellent. The atmosphere was unique- nothing else like it! We enjoyed the big band and lively dance floor. Food was very good, and while yes, it was a splurge meal, the meal included antipasto, soup or salad, vegetable, potato or rice, so it felt like a good value still. We were celebrating a birthday, and were comped an amazing (large!!) piece of Pink Champagne cake. Delicious! I will say it wasn’t the best filet I’ve ever had, but it was prepared differently than I’m used to. There was a “crust” with a unique smoky flavor, but the interior of the filet was buttery and tender. I enjoyed the different barbecued preparation, but may not be for everyone looking for the typical steakhouse experience. We were visiting from Arizona… but we will be back!

We were celebrating my husband's birthday and we enjoyed a memorable evening. Service was TOP notch and the ambience just can't be beat. The portions are HUGE but underwhelming. The quality/taste of the food just doesn't meet the price point and is disappointing. But we made a great memory and we love supporting this local icon.

You cannot beat Madonna Inn for ambiance and charm. That said, please get a chef who knows about food. At those prices you’d expect something high quality to match—but you’ll be disappointed. Overly large portions (I’m not being facetious). Terrible ingredients (we were served some sort of cocktail sauce to go on our spinach salad 🤢) We ordered “portobello fries) and got eight full sized, deep fried mushrooms with ranch. We sent them back. Our turkey sliders were OK but only had a bare amount of BBQ sauce. We loved sitting in the dining room watching people waltz and listening to the bad but charming MC try to sing songs. It’s a vibe. But please do something about the food. Please. I’ve worked in restaurants in San Francisco most of my life. I know you’re still kinda a mom and pop type place, but when people are paying top dollar to stay, they need a better dining experience than this.
