The Castlefield Rooms offer a boutique, out of the ordinary, venue in central Manchester, in a stunning position within a conservation area on the banks of the Bridgewater Canal. I’ve been going here for years but it’s really changed Used to be a main and two sides now the meal is as it comes but with some you still need a side which of course you pay extra for The wine has increased in price, as it has everywhere. It’s not as it was and not worth the walk from the centre of Manchester.

Fabulous restaurant with great atmosphere and fantastic staff, everyone that we met were professional, friendly and efficient. Sunday lunch was delicious and catered efficiently for coeliac in our party. Would highly recommend- a fabulous place

We arrived early, so we sat in the bar, It was the first warm weekend and everywhere was rammed, the staff tho, run off their feet were so helpful and friendly, our meal was high quality, we will certainly return ❤️

Was a gorgeous sunny day so the vibes and atmosphere was great, but the food was very expensive and not very good quality. One side was inedible and after mentioning this twice they were removed from the bill. Lovely place to go for a drink but wouldn’t recommend for food.

Shocking service from the moment we walked into the restaurant! The lady behind reception pointed to our table, she didn’t bother to sit us down with menus or ask if we wanted a drink. After we sat ourselves down we then had to wait a further 20 minutes for a drink order. Throughout the meal we ordered drinks which never arrived, we had to order AGAIN before we eventually received the drinks. The food portions were ridiculous, the starter consisted of 2 mouthfuls and so did the desert. Don’t bother ordering off the lunch menu. We were left with plates stacked high on the table, waiters walked by time and time again leaving us sat with dirty plates. When we complained the lady in charge she didn’t even apologise! Will not be returning again and to top it all off we were celebrating my mums birthday which was totally ruined.

Started off well with great service . However, as the night progressed, it got bad:- -servers were not around, only one running around once in a while - ordered dessert but was not put into system until we enquired about the delay - It was a birthday celebration and we have requested for a small birthday dessert to be prepared n brought out later in the evening but because no servers could be found, we gave up on it as we no longer had the mood for celebration over there. Decided to move to another venue for celebration Food : - starters were good - mains - steak was not well cooked; was overdone when we ordered medium rare. When we showed to one of the servers, she took a look and said well, it looked pink to me. The main server came over a little while later and asked if we like to have a new one done. By then, we were not to interested to wait for a new one. But at least, she offered and that was nice of her. Will not be back again

Friendly and efficient service and the 3 course set meal was good value for money, tasty and beautifully served. The white wine however was not chilled. This is my only criticism. Otherwise an excellent meal.

Had the pleasure of dining at this lovely restaurant outside on the terrace, made all the more pleasant because of the gorgeous sunny day. Couldn’t fault anything. The food and service were wonderful. Will definitely return when next in Manchester

Bank Holiday Sunday and lack of kitchen staff meant for shocking food. Starter was cold. Sent back. Roast beef had been steeping in Bisto for hours and inedible. 2 roast potatoes were eaten and roast sent back. Next door tables also sent back. Staff however were lovely and bent over backwards to make things better- but unfortunately they couldn’t do anything about the kitchen. I’ve been during the week on numerous occasions and have really enjoyed so hopefully this is a one off.

I personally thought the food was poor and not much of it. Chicken based dish for mains had a large peice of sinew through it. Wine was mediocre and highly overpriced and arrived in a dirty glass but this was resolved quickly and new glass was brought. Service was fine.

Have dined there numerous times with my group of friends and it’s always been great. On this occasion most of us had the Malayan curry, which was delicious, but we felt the portion of chicken given (two pieces equivalent to half a very small chicken breast) was a bit meagre. Also the amount of sauce provided barely covered the base of the bowl. I didn’t mention the size of the chicken portion on this occasion because as it happened we weren’t too hungry, but I did mention the sauce quantity and further generous portions were provided, which was great. So besides the quantities we had no complaints.

We enjoyed our meal last evening in Albert’s Shed, the food was excellent, the service friendly and helpful as always, our waitress , I think her name was Georja , a young lady from Australia was most helpful and pleasant, we will definitely return we we are next visiting Manchester Maurice Kennedy

We booked a table for 8 for a Sat afternoon, my wife & her sister in law arrived early, knowing they were early they asked if they could have a drink but you could not go to the bar, you had to sit down & be serve by a waitress. Once we were all together, a waitress took the order for drinks, so far so good. However we seem to wait far longer than expected to be asked what food we wanted to order. Food was ordered when it came, 1 of the meals was incorrect, it was a burger but just cheese, but it came with salad on it. During the meal we ordered more drinks but the empty glasses remained on the table. Once the plates were collected, we ordered desserts, glasses remained, once again we waited & waited at which point we asked for the bill & cancelled the desserts. At the till we made our feelings known re the poor service. The food was good, it just the service wasn't what it should have been for a place of the standard expected at Albert's shed, and the place was not full, it was Sat afternoon not night.

Visited Alberts Shed with friends for an early birthday meal. We had the £14.95 2 course deal which is fabulous value for money. They acknowledged it was my birthday with a little sign and a candle on a cake with was a lovely touch.Staff were attentive and friendly. Last few times we visited we were disappointed with service but will return as it was back to its good standard today.

Vegan Sunday lunch option of spinach and lentil pie was really nice, and my husband enjoyed his roast. I asked what the 'glazed carrots' accompaniment were glazed with, and asked the waiter to check when he said 'honey', which is not vegan. Waiter should really have known that. and 'pomegranate molasses glaze' should have been clear on the menu. My 'draught Diet Coke" was completely flat, and tasted odd. I was given an individual bottle of Diet Coke instead, and not charged extra for that - thank you. Generally, a very nice Sunday lunch experience. We'd return. :)

Love the place, always have. We chose the set lunch menu for £14.95. My main was really good, I had the curry. We all chose the chocolate orange cheesecake and being honest, the tiny portion we received felt insulting and mean. It was supposed to be served with double cream but we think they ran out. We fed this back to our server and she was really good following up with the chef, they changed menus recently and wanted feedback. It wouldn't stop us going back but we would ask questions in advance the next time.

First time visit to Alberts, good location if a bit off the beaten track, so not a bad thing. Great service, reasonable ambiance lacks some character, but pleasant enough new menu selection is a bit limited but most will find something to meet their needs, wines reasonably priced and reasonable equality I would of preferred to be asked how i wanted my swordfish cooked as it was over cooked for my personal taste, the rest of mine and my wifes good was really nicely presented and packed with flavour I would definitely go again and do recommend

A lovely experience here on meeting a friend I haven’t seen for a while. The ambience, the food and service ( particularly Choe and Keeley) made it very special. We had an excellent lunch and such good value. Couldn’t have been better so thank you Alberts Shed.

Lively restaurant with efficient and friendly service. The food was delicious and well presented. I'd definitely return and would recommend it to others.

The only small criticism is that the starter Rabbit Gnocchi was a bit on the small size but we appreciate two courses for £14:50 is good value Apart from that as always we loved it

Visited with some friends to celebrate a birthday. Venue was beautiful, food and service amazing and good value for money. Will definitely return.

Always a good meal here. Great service, a nice interior and the food is great. Please bring back the Manchester tart. If you are in the city, this is a good choice for a great meal.

Great service, great food other than one of our party had the monkfish which wasn't cooked well.

Only allowed 90 minutes at the table, just long enough to finish two courses and coffee then were told we needed to leave because they were very busy- not my problem. Overall very average and will not be going back.
