I love Albert’s at the San Diego Zoo. All of my past dining experiences there have been very positive. This time, however, there was a problem getting seated at a table by the waterfall, which I had requested in my 1:45 pm Open Table reservation. It was odd because the restaurant was half-empty when I arrived and continued to empty out as I waited. The two young hostesses offered me other tables, both in high-traffic locations, and seemed displeased when I firmly but nicely insisted on the EMPTY table by the waterfall. They couldn’t be bothered to request the table be bussed— they were quite busy dusting and cleaning the menus— and I finally asked to speak to the manager, who only made excuses for the delay. After a long wait, I was seated at a table by the waterfall. From that point on, the service was OUTSTANDING, and the fish tacos were very good. I only hope that when I return, those two hostesses have been better trained in the art of good customer service.

Love the patio with the jungle vibe. George was a great server with great recs for the table. His service was prompt and efficient. Food was good: quality ingredients fair pricing and good portion sizing. Bar drinks were good! This is a gem within the zoo for sure. Can’t wait for the next visit.

A little on the pricey end but I think it was worth it! The food was great (they do have a kids menu for those parents wondering) and the ambience at the patio was peaceful and relaxing, a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the zoo on a Saturday. Just a heads up, make sure you make a reservation a few days before your visit. Someone who didn’t have a reservation was told there was an hour and a half wait.

Such a gem! Incredible service and amazing food. The outdoor seating by the waterfall is really lovely -- just know the falling water does make it a *tiny* bit loud. But worth it for the green, secluded feel! I can't say enough nice things about the staff, they're just wonderful and made our birthday / Mother's Day celebration really special. The food is really great -- I loved the sriracha wings and the birria tacos, and mom's salmon was perfectly prepared.

We had a wonderful lunch... the salmon and tuna melt were perfect and so was the prompt friendly service. A great time was had by all four of us.

Attentive staff who are always courteous. Their Tomato Basil soup appetizer and Salmon entree have become my favorite to order.

The tacos were bland. The service was particularly bad. I guess they don’t have to care. There are lots of visitors that will never be back in the area. We were 2/3s the way through our meal before our server inquired about our meal. At that point, why bother? We sat for a good long while before someone cleared the plates and had an even longer wait before our server returned to the table. She didn’t even ask if we wanted dessert. She just brought our bill.

Superb service, great drinks, wonderful atmosphere, and delicious food. The sound of waterfalls in the background and the wall art combined with the extra care shown by staff make this a must see!

Wonderful service! The Flat Iron Steak Salad was great and the Rib Eye French Dip was delicious and filling as well. I would skip the Garlic Cheese Bread though. Ambience was also so lovely.

It was quite chilly in the dining room. We wanted to eat out in the waterfall room, but it was so cold. We decided to eat inside. I made a comment to our server and she turned off the fans above us.

We asked if we could substitute regular fries with our sandwich to sweet potato fries. The waitress said absolutely. When we were paying the bill we noticed she had charged us an additional $4 without ever disclosing this extra charge for a substitution. Usually when I’ve asked for a substitution it is a true substitute not an up charge.

We were tiered with 3 year old Granddaughter. Great place to rest on a busy Saturday afternoon. Food was great and nice place to get away from crowds. Children’s menu but no crayons. BYOC!

We had the chicken piccata and salmon. Both were excellent. Service was great and our food arrived quickly and hot. Very good wine and cocktails too. We asked for and were seated on the patio. Nice atmosphere with the waterfall and stream right next to us. It was a lovely sunny day and that also made it special

We’ve been Zoo members for decades but had never dined at Albert’s. We made a reservation for brunch on Easter. The garlic cheesy bread appetizer was delicious. I had the beef dip and my husband had the steak frites. Both entrees were great. Will definitely be dining again.

I always enjoy dining here by the waterfall. It’s a beautiful atmosphere in the zoo and the food is great. There’s something for everyone on the list and they are very nice to accommodate modifications. They also have a full bar and delicious cocktails.

Surprisingly lovely and tasty. One of the specials was a spring salad with goat cheese stuffed squash blossoms. Heaven. Lily was very attentive.
