83 ½ is best described as a labor of love. A love of a family, friends and most importantly, food. Chef Vincenzo Mangiafridda, a twenty-year restaurant veteran of the Upper East Side, wanted to open a restaurant that spoke to his deep Sicilian roots. In 83 1/2, his vision has become reality. He created a menu of memorable Italian dishes including silky pastas, inventive antipasti, and delicious entrees.
Above all, it’s Vincenzo’s love of people that makes 83 ½ what it is: a warm, welcoming place where friends and families share their passion for food and familiar faces. We can’t wait for your family to meet ours.

Excellent food as always. We did need to wait for our reserved table nearly 20 minutes. With a small restaurant, it can be hard to manage the timing for tables so precisely.

I have dined here many times and the brussels sprouts are still the best. three of us shared appetizers and everything was pretty much perfect. service was attentive without being obstructive.

Food was very good, but we, unfortunately, spent the evening swatting away fruit flies, which were constantly flying around and landing on our food and drinks. The waiter witnessed this and did nothing to address the situation or offer us any accommodation.

Amazing food from crispy Brussels sprouts to perfectly seasoned salad to melt in your mouth fresh pasta with mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes and the outstanding fish wrapped in zucchini on a bed of spinach. We were too full for what looked like incredible desserts. Next time!

This has been on of our favorite neighborhood restaurants until now. Our zucchini blossoms chicken piccata and fish seemed to be overly deep fried in batter 😖 Huge disappointment.

Service professional and lovely. While waiting for our table we all had a glass of wine on the house. Apps were delicious-mussels and meatballs. We all enjoyed our entrees. A perfect local and fairly quiet neighborhood restaurant.

Food was excellent as always! My fellow eaters felt their cod was a little too salty but good. My only complaint is that the tables are so close but I know it’s a small place and really nothing can be done about it. Otherwise it’s our second time there and food and service are wonderful!

The Brussels sprouts were outstanding. The nice salad with pear and Gorgonzola fabulous. The chicken with vegetables over asparagus was yummy!

This place should be packed every night. The food is that good! The service is good too. We’ve been coming here for years, and I am still impressed with the quality of the food and its preparation. And Mondays and Tuesdays are BYOB! No corkage fee! Tonight I had the spaghetti and meatballs with a dollap of fresh ricotta on top (ask for it). My wife had the linguine Vongole. Both excellent. We brought our own wine as it was a Tuesday. But they have a full bar and a wide selection of quality wines for any other night. Ps , the baked clams oreganata were the best I ever had.

Extensive menu and specials. Food was well prepared and delicious. Love that Mondays and Tuesdays are BYOB with no corkage fee. Gracious service and they were very accommodating about increasing the size of our party at the last minute.

Not living in the city anymore, on my recent visit wanted to revisit 83 1/2. We were very glad we did, the food was cooked to perfection, the fried calamari nice and tender, Paccheri pasta, chicken Milanese was perfect, as was the veal piccata. We’re anxious to return again on our next trip in.

We’ve been coming here for years. Have tried many other Italian restaurants, uptown and downtown, but none come close to the quality of food here. Also quiet dining ambiance with white tablecloths with very good and caring service. Mondays and Tuesdays are byob with no corkage fee. Favorite dishes are linguine Vongole, linguine frutta de mar, linguine Vongole, trofi pasta with braised short ribs, pasta bolognese, and chicken Parmesan (not on the menu, but ask for it). Prices are fair.

Food, wine and service was excellent. We were able to have a lovely dinner without feeling rushed. Waiter was very attentive. One of the few places serving Lambrusco! I can’t wait to return. UES gem.
