Excellent brunch. Eggs Benedict delicious, huge crunchy onion rings and an extra spicy bloody Mary made to perfection. Good value and lovely staff

We went to 56 North for my sisters birthday. Rang to move the booking half hour as we were running late, no problem for them. When we got there the table was too in the sun for one of our party, moved us, no issues. Waitress was attentive enough considering she was the only one on tables and it was busy, she did great. Service speed was neither slow or fast, very happy. Food was lovely, pudding, lovely and such a vast choice of drinks was amazing. Price a little high but everything is these days. Would definitely go again and would recommend a visit before the show at the theatre. Fab place!

Warm welcome and and service with a smile- vast drink selection. Used an itison voucher for burger and chips. The Tower burger was massive and very tasty. The chips were hot and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Grandson had the Louisiana burger which he enjoyed. Visited many times over the years and this restaurant n very fails to deliver.

The charcuterie board was nice but at £11.95 per person (minimum of 2 people) it was very overpriced for what you got.

Eaten here a few times and it gets better every time. The food is great and the staff are wonderful. Can't wait to eat here again.

Service was poor. Waitress kept wandering past the table not even looking to see if we had finished , need another drink or anything else. We have been to this restaurant many times and this was really poor

Booked a table for food and drinks early Saturday evening. Seated in a lovely booth where we were able to enjoy the buzz and still have quiet conversation. Gin choice is extensive, thistly cross on tap and good selection of classic quality food options served by friendly, efficient staff. Definitely recommend and will be back with a gin loving sister!

Lovely fresh food and quick service with a table by the large glass window looking out on a sunny Edinburgh evening. Top marks also for quick follow-up on a late night email asking if a missing ring might have been found... it wasn't (turned up later somewhere else) but we really appreciated the prompt efforts to search for it the following morning and keep me updated - a sign of genuinely caring customer service.

As fantastic as ever! As a regular I love coming here as it is so welcoming, the staff are wonderful and the food is the best in Edinburgh! This time I had fish and chips and the fish melted in my mouth! It has an warm welcoming ambience and I always feel comfortable here. I always jump at the opportunity to visit. I don't need an excuse!

A great experience. The steaks were both excellent and cooked as we requested. The starters were also tasty, the wine excellent and the service was superb.

We had burger vouchers that we received at Christmas. The burgers were lovely as were the chips and onion rings. Cooked fresh hot and tasty would recommend and will definitely visit again.

Lovely staff and great food. Had a delicious negroni and bartender made me a martini with Arbikie gin which was superb.

I've had a booking for 4 but it was found as for 2 in the restaurant, so we haven't got the table we expected. Would recommend to bring the printed confirmation next time. Apart that - food was good and served Ok.

This was the 2nd time myself and my party of 5 had chosen to eat at this restaurant after 1st going 3years ago; the food and cocktails were absolutely beautiful, couldn't recommend it more. The Rhubarb and Ginger cocktail is a must try!

Food and drinks were fine service was shocking. Worst table in the place when it wasn't even full, waited 15 for someone to take order then the order was wrong never got our starter. Waitered half an hour on burgers then asked 3 times if the food was ok. After that asked if we wanted desert, menus never came so paid and left. Poor service ruined the place and lost 56 north money.

Very impressed with 56 North. Great atmosphere, professional and friendly service and very reasonably priced. The quality of the food and drinks were very good and we were seated in a cosy booth with plenty of room. We loved the modern decor and ambience. We would definitely recommend 56 North.

Really nice meal for myself, but my companions weren't too impressed with their calamari starter as it was a little rubbery. All that was forgotten when the HUGE burgers were brought out. They were delicious.

We were a large group that had booked for 8.30pm. Quite packed but no problem with our seating arrangements. A DJ played music at a very high volume. It was impossible to talk to each other so we could not stay there when we had eaten. The staff was very service minded and the food was good.

Went after my graduation with my family. Had a fantastic time - wasn't rushed at all, great food, there was a deal on that made it affordable - a bit pricey normally. But would definitely recommend it to others.

Let me make no bones about it, 56 North is a bar. At the time I went (7.30 on a Friday evening), my husband and I were the only people eating. The staff were friendly, service was good and both food and prices were reasonable. I would go again, but it doens't quite have the wow factor.

Food good but service not. After seated just seemed to forget about us and had to constantly find someone to order food and drinks. Food arrived but sauce forgotten , one order wrong, had to ask three times for one drink!

25% off the food bill, accommodated well for a large group, rustic and beautifully presented food and great set up...what more do you need! Definitely made a great impression from all my friends who had come up from London! Highly recommend!

On arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner that was not too over the top. Several of our party were running late but this was not seen as a big issue. Service was very good and attentive. The cocktails were very good along with the meal, if a little pricey. The food itself was superb! Overall, great night, great venue.

Had my 35th birthday lunch here and I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed. This is the second time I've had the pleasure of visiting 56 North and on both occasions it has been with fairly large parties. Even though the rugby was on, we were still able to chat amongst ourselves without being drowned out. The atmosphere is relaxed and easygoing with the staff always happy to help in any way they can. The flat breads were absolutely amazing with shredded hog in hosin sauce, a real favourite and very filling. Thanks to the staff for serenaded me and even keeping hold of my birthday cards that I accidentally left there. We will definitely be returning soon.

56 North was a grave disappointment. On entry, one is greated by a wall of noise which might pass for buzz if the music was in better taste. The food is overpriced and over hyped - with none of the six dishes ordered better than mediocre, and the burger inedible (pre-cooked then slow-burnt, before being allowed to cool). The free Drambuie cocktails on promotion failed to blunt the pain.

Menu and food passable. Service mixed: some perfectly pleasant. One (possibly in charge?) charmless and jargon-laden. The first attempt at the bill had item prices which were a mere approximation of the prices shown on the menu. There are several places in central Edinburgh at which you can enjoy a better eating experience than this - and costing no more.

Good points - good venue, especially during festival. Bad points - where to start?! Arrived having booked a table with a TT deal and were told we didn't have he deal. we eventually ordered and then we waited...and waited. Most of food was average when it arrived but the burgers which we ordered were horrendous - cremated on the outside, raw in the middle and disgusting. We were told that £10 would be taken off our bill but when it came, they said they hadn't taken money off as we were on a two course and a cocktail deal. Some deal!! To make matters worse, the cocktails were abysmal. The "chocolate white Russians" were milk with vodka and cocoa powder; no kaluha, not ven Tia Maria/chocolate liqueur - just vodka and milk - horrendous!

We booked 56 North as it was close to our theatre venue, we had the special deal with 2 courses and a cocktail. Only a few cocktails allowed on this menu the ones priced at £4.95 and £5.95, food was average pub grub some of us had starters others waited and had sweet instead of starter. Would think twice about paying the correct price for the sweets the cheesecake was around £7 for something out of the freezer. The place was full and there was a good atmosphere pity the food was not a bit more exciting.

Visited with friends between shows and enjoyed the Top table offer of cocktail and 2 courses. Staff were very friendly and professional and there were no complaints. Would recommend

I choose 56north as ive had good food in the past but it is always hit and miss. I went with 4 other colleagues and had some news to share - service was really good but food let down the lunch! I had the classic burger. It was undercooked but dry. Not sure how this is even possible! Didnt enjoy my meal and unfortunatley wont be back for food here.

Booked the restaurant for a hen party , great value , very attentive staff , even some free cocktails !! Very nice food , only let down was one member of staff lifting up the burgers to see what was in them before giving to us ! All in all , would recommend !
